Cat keeps waking me up!

Question:
Hello. I have used the search function on this forum to find some suggestions for cats that meow at the bedroom door at night. Basically it was to have a play session at night or get another cat. I live in a small apartment with my girlfriend and getting another cat is just not adequate given the space.
I do play with my cat (Coco) at night time but she still meows at our bedroom door at night. When she hears the bed sheets rustle after she meows (from me waking up and moving), she moves away from the door and sits far away. She's very smart! She knows I will come out and "shhh" her. So spraying her or anything like that is out of the question. I have tried many times, but every time I get up, she hears me and just moves away. She's associated the spraying with me. So alas nothing is different. She still does this EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. She is almost 2 years old and still doing this. Some nights I don't do anything and some nights I do. I am just running out of ideas. I have a sleep disorder as it is and anything that keeps me up at night just does not help.
So my questions are:
1. Is there ANYTHING else I can do?
2. Are there any sort of barrier/kennel type things for cats that allow me to section off an area of the apartment every night just for the cat away from the bedroom?
3. Is it a bad idea to just leave her in the bathroom with litter, food and water every night before I go to bed?
Any help would be great! Feel free to refer me to any kind of product, article, forum, suggestion, ANYTHING!

oh and by the way, I do have ear plugs and I wear them almost every night, but still no difference. I can still hear her.

Just for a little insight ... you cat continues to do this because she knows she will get results. Maybe not every time and maybe not the results she wants. But any kind of a reaction tells the cat that she's being heard.
As for what you can do: confining the cat in the bathroom for the night would just fine, if that's what works for you. As long as she has water and litter and some toys. If she's a scratcher, put some cardboard on the inside of the door to save the finish.
Another acceptable idea is a cat cage which you could confine her in at night. Again, as long as her needs are provided for, this is not a cruel or inhumane thing to do.
In both cases, she's going to continue making noise until she learns that making noise doesn't get any reaction from you. So you'll just have to learn to lay quietly without making a sound when she wakes you up. Eventually she'll learn and be quiet at night.
Good luck!!

kinda just sounds like she wants to be in the room with you.. I my self got aggravated with this and just leave the bed room door cracked so they can get in and out. They still make a little noise but eventually settle down at the foot of the bed

Answer:
sometimes my cats sleep with me, sometimes they don't... they have 3 different beds to sleep on [parents, sisters, mine]. If they meow at the door, I let them in and they just sleep at the foot of my bed, occasionally they just want to snoop around for a few minutes and leave.
Is your cat an affectionate type of cat? I am no expert... maybe she just wants to sleep in the same bed as you. Again, I could just be talking out of my butt and you may have reasons as to not letting your cat on your bed/furntiure
Answer:
Just as another thought, after reading the other posts: before you try taking my suggestions, you might just try letting her have access to the bedroom for a few nights and see if she just wants to be in there with you. Maybe she'll be quiet and let you sleep. Give it a week, so she gets used to when you're asleep. After that, if it still isn't working out, then the more drastic measures can be considered.

Answer:
My cats go nuts on the bedroom door if its closed. If it's open, they usually just come in and leave in a few minutes, or lay down and sleep. It would probably be easier to just let the cat in, but give it a place to sleep other than the bed.
Answer:
mine do to.
they scratch and pull at the carpet no stop until i crack it.. and i've tired being pateint.
i either put them in the laundry with there needs (litter food, water toys) and let them out in the morning, or i let them in the room, i have a tray here. they like the second one more i think.
so try having them in there. supply a bed for him/her if you dont fancy it on the bed. and see how it goes
