Is it possible to train kitty to use the toilet?

Question:
Most of you saw a movie called Meet the Fockers...and in this movie a guy trained a cat to use a toilet....Can anybody tell me if it possible to teach kitty to do that in real life?
Answer:
Yes, it is possilbe. I know a lady has trained all three of her cats to use the toilet- they don't have the flushing part down though . You can buy speacial litter trays that sit in the toilet to get them use to using it, so they don't fall in. Look online and in books. There are many places that will teach you how to do this.
Here is a picture I found online.

Answer:
petsmart used to sell a kit that gave you instructions and all. I knew of two people who had their cats trained and some of them would even try to flush
I'd like to train my cats, oh boy, the amount of peeing they do, I'm sure it would save me money
Answer:
LOL thank you guys! Im going to try to do that as an anniversary present for my fiance...because he hates cleaning litter box LOL
Answer:
Try doing a search for toilet train. There are a ton of threads out there about this. Here are a few:

Answer:
This is probably mentioned in one of those threads, but if you decided to train a cat to use a toilet you should keep in mind that they will not use a litter box. They're not going to do it both ways. Cats are creatures of habit, and when they get used to doing a thing one way, that's the way they want to do it. So, if you ever need to board the cat, or have it stay overnight in a vet hospital, or anything of that sort, it's a major problem.

The lady I know says her cats do it both ways because if she is not at home she does not want them using the toilet incase they fall in. She says if the cats are going to be home alone she shuts the door and a everyonce in a while they will use the litterbox.

OK, well I suppose if you accustom them to continue using both, it can work. Don't know, never tried it, just repeating what I read somewhere. Just thought I'd throw that in as a caution.

I have actually heard what you said too, but I just wanted to throw it out there that is POSSIBLE, but maybe not be PROBABLE.
Answer:
Toilet training may be a lot harder than you think, otherwise there'd be a LOT more cats doing it.
First, its a slow process and any little mistake can set you back even longer. It isn't a natural position for cats to potty in either... how would you like to try and balance on the seat in order to pee? I'd imagine the smaller the cat, the harder it would be.
I've heard all sorts of things about toilet training. Things like the fact that cats bury their waste by instinct... no digging and burying goes against their natural insticts... Also, I'd imagine any sort of splashback that gets them wet would be enough to turn them away from the toilet for a good long while.
And unless they're used to using the box and toilet (which probably won't happen) any situation that keeps them away from a toilet (like boarding) can make you have to reteach the entire process.
While some people have had success with toilet training their cats, I personally don't think its worth all the trouble. I mean, one of the first things you associate with a cat is a litterbox - you knew what you were getting into when you got one!

Answer:
My uncle's cat Casey trained himself to use the toilet.
At first, this cat appeared so stupid that my uncle and grandparents thought Casey was mentally retarded. They decided the cat needed to be put to sleep one day. When they went to get him, they found him straddling the toilet bowl. That innovation saved his life, and I remember Casey using the toilet before he died of old age.
