Playing Fetch
Question: Our one year old female cat loves to play fetch with crumpled up wads of paper. She is always the instigator. We have had our cat ever since she was a six week old kitten and we have no other pets. She is strictly an inside house cat. No complaints at all for my husband and I find this very amusing and enjoy playing fetch with her. We teasingly call her "Fidette" when she kicks into fetch mode. We know she has never been around any dogs or other cats for that matter, since we have had her anyway. We have never heard of a cat that does this and just wondered if anyone here has ever heard of any other cats who do this. Thanks. Jade, Scotty, and Oscar Answer: lol! that's so cute! i'm trying to teach willard how to play fetch with his "baby" (a beanbag cat that looks like him) boo used to play hide and seek Answer: My cat does this all the time - has done since he was about 4 months. It's sooo cute. He'll be playing away with something then suddenly he runs up and drops it in my lap. Then I throw it. he gets it and returns it, and then I throw it again. This can go on for about an hour! Only thing is, sometimes he tries to do it when I'm asleep. I'll wake up to find his toy on my head, with him sitting patiently waiting for me to throw it! Sharonx Answer: Here's some older threads on many members' cats who fetch and do other "doglike" behaviors. Answer: That's cute! Charlie loves to play fetch and we didn't have to teach him either. We do have 2 dogs that play fetch, though. He brings his mousie to my feet and drops it when he's ready to play. Elly May, critter mama to Mikko (Tux) and Jake (GS & Lab) Charlie now in forever home! Answer: I've met lots of cats who like to play fetch, but very few people who've "taught" a cat to fetch...in most cases, it seems to be a spontaneous game that they either "get" or they don't. My cat doesn't, and figures that if I threw it away, I must not want it that badly. But one of my college roommates had a splendid tuxedo kitty, and he LOVED to play fetch, sometimes for an hour at a time. Answer: Mojo LOVES to play fetch! He'll wear your arm out before he wants to quit when he gets started on it! I had never seen a cat fetch before and didn't teach him, he just started on his own one day! Answer: My cat Winnie used to play fetch with those little plastic helicopter toys, the ones that are just a rotor blade in a circle and spun up with a pull-string around a pulley. She's swat them out of the air and then bring them back. Answer: My cat will play fetch! Answer: One of my cats also plays fetch. She is almost 5 now and has done this since she was a kitten. It started with bottle caps. When my hubby would pop open a beer she would run over and meow and watch the cap in his hands. So he started throwing it and she would get it and drop it on him or at his feet and meow. So now she does it with almost anything, bottle caps, pennies, her little mouse toys. It is just so cute because she always meows before you throw it to her. Answer: Ophelia has played fetch for a fwe months too....she is 7 months old now. Malcolm who is 4 won't though- we adopted him as a 3 year old and he isn't too interested in toys. Answer: my cat plats fetch with those little super balls. he loves it and played up untill last september when he got sick. He's 14 now. his mother played fetch with little pine cones. she would do that weird chatter cats do when they see a bird everytime we'd bring a new pine cone home and show it to her. Cats are just cool It's easy to understand what cats want, just listen to what they say...MEeee NOWwww Answer: Milk bottle rings, rubber balls, wads of paper...you have to love when your cat plays fetch...a lot less exercise for you Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
