New Kitty and Bathroom

Question:
Hi! I have once again decided to bring a new cat home. Last time it worked, my fiance's mom fell in love with her and she now has a forever home. My cat and her got along well.
This time..... My cat is ok with it, but the other kitty Lucy hasn't gone to the bathroom yet and I brought her here yesterday! She also hasn't eaten or drank anything. I am keeping the cats apart like I am supposed to. I have tried a covered box and an uncovered box. I even tried one my cat Allie had gone in to see if she would get the point.
Lucy the new kitty is eight years old and was formerly a part of a one cat household. She also had only one owner. I know she misses her old mommy, but she was unable to keep her. I just want her to be comfortable and with not going to the bathroom since yesterday morning, she can't be.
Suggestions PLEASE!!!!
Answer:
If she hasn't had any food or water, she probably doesn't have to go all that bad. This happens a lot with a new cat. I'm guessing she'll probably start again this evening or tomorrow morning. You might try the old tuna trick. Mix some tuna juice from canned tuna into the drinking water to get her interested in drinking it. And feed her a little of the tuna to stimulate her appetite. The tuna water shouldn't be left to stand, though.
I'm sure she'll come around. She's an older cat. It'll take a little longer.

Thanks! I feel a little better now that you say it takes older cats longer. and also, I didn't think that if she didn't take anything in, she probably doesn't need to get anything out. I feel SOOOO bad for her! I hope she will let me love her before long.
Thanks!
Answer:
I have had the same concerns when I brought kittens home. I wondered if Squeakers had a bladder of steel, because it was well over a day before she finally went. She was so scared though, poor thing, and hadn't eaten or drank either. I kept her in the bathroom with the litter box on one end and her food on the other. That way, when she finally was ready to go, she went in the right place!
Answer:
We had success!!!!! Although it took her over three days to go tinkey! She finally pee peed at the end of the second day. She is now eating drinking and going to the bathroom fine. She obviously has those looks of missing her mommy though. Poor baby!!
