Little turds - seriously
Question: Andi is the most purrfect feline companion but lately she's been doing something weird. Little turds will be found in the bathroom area (where her litter box is). I've had to clean it up three times already (in the span of two weeks). It isn't horrible, but it's just annoying. One morning, I got up to go use the restroom and I almost stepped in it! It isn't like she's pooping huge amounts outside of the box, they are about the size of a quarter really. She still does her business in the litter box but once in a while this precious gem will be found. Any ideas on what could be going on? She isn't acting abnormal and nothing has changed in our routine. Thanks guys! I posted some pics of her in Meet my Kitty. She's a sweetheart! Proud slave of our Andi Kitten! Answer: My first thought would be is that she may not be completing her bowel movement in the box (although she thinks she is done). When she exits the box, some stool could be left in her rectum and soom falls to the ground as she moves around the bathroom. Are the stools super hard or very soft when you find them? Others may have an idea if there may be a medical issue related to this. I'll be sure to look at your kitty's picture! Christina Answer: Hi Krystalily! Are her stools normal in general? I am wondering if she is constipated and is getting out before the last piece falls. (Or maybe she could be having a piece fall out on the way there? That seems less likely though.) Are the little poop pieces close to the litterbox, and are they in the same place or different place each time? By the way, what kind of food is she eating? -Karie Answer: The stools in the litter seem to be her normal poo turds. The poo that is found outside her litter is softer. I've been feeding her Eukanuba kitten formula (dry) and sometimes Nutro Max Cat Gourmet Classics kitten wet food. She's really good at regulating herself with how much she eats and she hasn't been acting abnormally. It could be that she thinks she is done poo'ing and she really isn't hehe. It wasn't a big issue before cause she poo'd on the tile but the other day she poo'd on the rug and that was pretty fun to clean hehe. Proud slave of our Andi Kitten! Answer: Is kitty a long-hair? Perhaps the last turd is clinging to her hair and falls off when she trots away from the box? One of my LongHairs (Shadow) sometimes has a problem with turds getting 'entangled' and I have to extricate. h I have the ability of single-minded determination and focu... Hey look, a cat! Answer: No, Andi is a short haired kitty. It'd have to be some super clingy hair if a turd the size I've been finding had been clinging onto it until it felt free to break away! Oh, I'm so sorry...your description just made me laugh out loud and startled Shadow off the desk! <still giggling> I have the ability of single-minded determination and focu... Hey look, a cat! LOL, and this made me laugh That's quite a visual Heidi, since you mentioned it, just how do you remove those stubborn poos? Pumpkin has one now and then, and the wipes don't do the job. Plus, she hates them Owned by Pepper and Pumpkin RIP Snickers 8/22/00 -- 11/28/06 http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/ Answer: Krystalily wrote: No, Andi is a short haired kitty. So Kobi comes running into my bedroom the other morning, like 2 minutes after I got up. Plops down...lick, lick, lick. Jumps up...moves 2 feet...looking behind him as if something is chasing him and he's trying to get away, plops down lick, lick, lick. Jumps up etc. This happened 4-5 times and he ran into the other bedroom before I could get to him. There was a 'log' at least 1.5 inches long stuck to his butt by literally one hair. The way he was panicked running around and squirmed on the trip from the bedroom to bathroom, I can't believe this thing was able to hold on like it did. Great way to start off a morning Always remembering Onyx & Callie May Answer: Lisa 216 wrote: Heidi, since you mentioned it, just how do you remove those stubborn poos? If I can't 'grab' it off with my hand protected by a paper towel...and this is usually the case because Shadow has a lot of long hair 'back there'... Scissors. ...and Doodle, that is how Shadow runs around too, runs and keeps looking behind her like... "What is CHASING me?!" ...it is pretty funny how she behaves and the look on her face, so I usually know what's up. h I have the ability of single-minded determination and focu... Hey look, a cat! Answer: Hehe, sorry your day starts off like that some times Doodlebug! I wish Andi would go nuts if that were to happen to her so I can grab the poo from her butt instead of trying to grab it from the rug! I guess I should be thankful that the turds have stayed inside the bathroom instead of wandered outside of it! Proud slave of our Andi Kitten! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
