Urinates standing up

Question:
Our 10 year old cat is refusing to squat in her litterpan. She just stands there and lets it fly. I have tried adding litter, taking away some of the litter, cleaning and scrubbing the pan. Nothing is stopping this. She has never been a sprayer (marking territory). She was a breeze to housebreak. The odor of her urine is getting stronger and stronger. Any ideas from anyone? She has ruined some of the tile in the bathroom where we keep her pan.
Answer:
You could try buying one of those litter boxes that have a plastic cover. The cat has to hop inside, do his/her busy and hop back out. This might work. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, here is a picture of one.

Good luck!

As far as I know she doesn't have an infection. She sure is not having a problem with urinating. She doesn't cry out while urinating. She is eating OK. Still plays. I was thinking about artheritis. Do you know anything about that? I looked at your web site. Beautiful kitties!
Answer:
Thanks. No I don't know anything about it in cats. How is her gait? Does she sway? Does she bend her knees? Can she jump up on things? I would talk with your vet about that!
