My cat bit my best friends leg

Question:
Philly is my 12 yr old fixed declawed male cat who is snobby towards some of my friends. My best friend came to visit for the weekend he bit her on the leg for 2 reasons I think. 1) he was protecting his family of cockatiel birds which he just loves they all get along so well my birds walk around on the floor and Philly just accepts them as his family.
2) he hates her
anyone know possibly why?
%100 pure Canadian and proud of it!
Answer:
Whew...Hang on while I catch my breath! LOL
Philbert...my opinion would be that your cat is getting older and
particular about his humans. I have always believed that cats can sense
whether humans are cat people or not.
I would also bet that Philly thinks of those birds as his kids!
That is so adorable!
Answer:
I have a suggestion actually... is it a breed of any type?
Sometimes Siamese and Persians can be moody, especially as they get older.

Answer:
Is this the first time your kitty has displayed this type of behavior?
Your kitty could be protecting his birds. Also your freind could have seemd threatning to him for some reason. I wouldnt worry to much unless it becomes a typical behavior, or if there is a sudden personality change.
If your cat is suddenly acting diffrently than normal, I would suggest taking him for a checkup with his vet. Personality changes can be a sighn of an illness, or problem.
Good luck! And keep us posted ok.

Answer:
I was thinking on the same line as other people here. He is getting older and not as tolerant, or he knows your friend does not really like him, or perhaps he is not well. Does your friend tell him off or anything like that. I think I would take your furbabe for a check up, make sure he is OK.

Answer:
My cat bites my legs when I dance. Was your friend moving around...um...frenetically (I'm a bad dancer).
Answer:
Rob, I'm sorry to disagree, but I have not found Siamese to be temperamental at all. I have met some Persians who were, however. (Now a Persian breeder might have something to say about that! )

Answer:
hehe thanks okay Jeanie. We had a siamese when I was growing up that picked human enemies for no real reason. She was still a sweet cat, just didn't like certain people for whatever reason.

Answer:
Maybe he didn't like the particular pants she was wearing? If they made a swish swish noise he may have been tempted to attacking
As for siamese cats, every siamese I've ever known was moody, your sweet lovey best friend one minute, then CHOMP! hehe but I suppose they can't ALL be biters eh?
Answer:
I think ive read before that cats who have been declawed can develop behavioural problems later in life.
