Welcome to www.tendlife.com !!!

I'm beginning to wish I'd never got her!

Question:
I've just spent nearly all night AGAIN, trying to remove the smell of urine from my wool carpet and it still smells. I've shampood it, soaked it, and scrubbed it. I've used various cleaning and de-scenter products on it, so far I've managed to eradicate the scent, because Maddie hasn't returned all week to this spot. However, I can still smell it!
Out of 5 cats, Maddie was the worst culprit! however, Scooby started to follow her lead!
I've absolutely had enough of the horrible smell and constantly trying to get rid of the smell of urine!
Please, please, can anybody advise me of any tried and tested methods of sucessfully getting rid of this horrible smell! I've tried all the usual stuff from the shops, but they just don't work! I'm at the end of my tether right now!

Answer:
I recently had to deal with this with Pouncer. She peed on my bed 3 times. It wasn't her fault, she couldn't help it. Anyway, I remembered everyone saying Nature's Miracle was the stuff to get so I ran right out and got a bottle. I sprayed it on and let it sit for a good long time. Then I used my carpet cleaner to clean that up, then sprayed it again with Nature's Miracle. The next day, I cleaned it with the carpet cleaner again and then sprayed the Nature's Miracle one last time. It was a lot of work, but it got the smell out of my bed. I hope this helps.
Answer:
Are the cleaners you're using the enzymatic type, specifically made to break down cat urine? If not...that is your issue.
If they are...is the carpet completely dry? Sometimes it takes quite a while to completely dry...and wool smells pretty funny when it's wet to begin with. Sometimes it's the residual smell of the cleaner and it goes away after a week or two.

Answer:
I used Nature's Miracle to clean up a diarrhea spot. It took three separate cycles of application/cleaning/drying before I couldn't smell it anymore. This was over a period of several weeks because I had to let it thoroughly dry in between. Remember the urine soaks through the carpet and into the pad underneath, so you have to do the same with the cleaner.

Thanks guys!
I'm at the point where I daren't let anybody into the house, for the fear of them thinking I own a dirty house!
I love all my cats to bits, but Maddie, never lets me pick her up or get close to her, mind you, she does like to play when I dangle the toys and things in front of her. I was starting to resent her, because of the urine problem and the fact that I don't get the chance to cuddle her like the others.
It had just been a long hard day, my vaccum cleaner had broken and I could still smell this rotten urine
I would never part with any of my pets, as I love them to bits, but I just want rid of this awful smell! I will try and get hold of some of this product or similar and see if it does the trick!
Thanks again guys, I'll keep you posted!
