Very ugly looking infection 2 weeks after spay
Question: get her to the vet ASAP. When this happened to Teagan the first vet mis diagnosed her, and it turned out she was allergic to the stiches. it sounds exactly like how her belly looked. Good Luck, and keep us updated Krista Image by: ForJazz! and BoscosMom! Answer: will do... vet opens at 9am and closes at 11am... what tight hours ... i'm going to arrive there at 8:30 am and hopefully i dont need an appointment. i'm hoping that brown gunk is like the bacteria or poison escaping the body or something due to the antibiotics... prolly not. Answer: just got back from the vet... he said wait 2-3 days to see how the infection looks and if it doesnt get better come back in and opt for $300+ surgery... yay. Answer: good luck ... thank god for boys it's much easier, i dont' even think Marsh was in pain, sans the uncomfortable sitting positions i saw him do for the first day and that bow-feet walking Marshu.com | Munchkin Polydactyl All White Cat - Marsh (Marshmallow) Answer: It really sounds like you need a new vet. He wants you to wait, and your only option is a $300 surgery?! I'd start looking for a second opinion. I am telling you, as i just went thtough this.. my vet never even charged me for anything after the surgey, cause it wasn't my fault. This is how teagan looked when it first started.. then i got MUCH worse.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try to take her to another vet.. Can you take a pic of it, and let me see it? Krista Image by: ForJazz! and BoscosMom! Answer: i've spent a $100 post surgery so far... charges for "treatment" from the vet who did the spay and more charges today for a second vet examining it... anyhow i forgot to explain that he cleaned out the brown stuff, he said it was just dirty secretions from the skin... much like how black stuff comes off our skin when we rub it real hard with water. there's a large pink lump parallel to the incision which is the site of the infection... this new vet that i went to today said to apply peroxide as opposed tothe other vet who said neosporin... i think peroxide sounds like a much better idea anyhow... her temperature was 103 degrees, a mild fever he said. i went to two vets today, the first one the doctor doesnt even come in on saturdays which makes me wonder why they're even open. i'l take pictures and put them up in a bit. she's in hyper killer mode right now. Answer: Well, first off, I'm not sure how he could pass off a lump and oozing as only "skin secretions" Also, the fact that she has a fever is a sign of a potentially serious infection. Peroxide is not going to fix this. Not to mention peroxide is often not good for open wounds as it kills both healthy as well as the diseased tissue. It would be best to use that sparingly. I hope you're able to fix what's wrong with your little girl (thanks, ForJazz) Support a college student and beautify your home! http://emchelle.etsy.com Answer: hey ta399, how did your vet treat ur kitty? with what i mean. Answer: updated with some pictures Answer: Honestly, lapchern, that looks really bad. I would be concerned about an even more serious infection going on inside. (thanks, ForJazz) Support a college student and beautify your home! http://emchelle.etsy.com Answer: yeah thanks for the concern... i'm going to see a third vet monday for another opinion. i just saw a bit of white puss coming out of the infection site... maybe it's emptying out (praying) this third vet seems to be pretty good... i'm going to ask also if i can apply some heat, like warm water to the site to hopefully draw some mroe blood flow. it's what i do when i had stuff like htat on my face during my pimple years i'm so upset at myself for not getting my kitten an e-collar to begin with... the vet made it seem like it wasn't really necessaryand seemed to stress more about trying to sell me pain medication... while the second vet, who i should've gone to for the spay in the first place, said he always makes an e-collar mandatory. i didn't even notice her licking her wound... maybe because i work too long hours . dr jean help! Answer: Lapchern, We Treated Teagan, by having her stiches removed, an oral antibiotic and a antibiotic ointment as well.. While she didn't have an infection, they wanted to make sure she didn't get one from such an open wound. Your pictures look very mich like Teagan did. A warm towel compress is good for it, if she will let you touch it. don't be upset about not getting the e-collar at first, most vets (inclusing mine) do not give them out for cats.. they are usually not needed. I hope everything goes ok, and let us know how she is doing. I know how horrible you must feel! Good Luck!! Krista Image by: ForJazz! and BoscosMom! Answer: i'm not sure if this is good or bad news, but her lump just popped and a bit of white puss is coming out now and emptying the site i hope. i dabbed some peroxide on the puss so that it would stop spreading around.
