Taking the pee....
Question: .... literally! Dylan's had a few incidents of peeing/pooping in bath so having him checked before I get a bigger litter box or anything. HE was in that rather ummm bad cattery over Christmas and I want to have him checked just for that reason really... But I have to obtain a sample if possible Currently He is in the bathroom with plastic laid out on bottom of bath Has anyone managed this successfully and how? Appoitment this afternoon Cheers Hayley x x .... Hayley xxxxx another stunner by ForJazz Answer: If Duchess would pee in the bathtub I would keep her! I am re-homing sicne she pee's on me. Anyways...I took her in to the vets and they got some urine from her. If the baldder is full they know right where to squeeze. Otherwise they can use a catheter. (no fun) Another choice is, they have non-absorbable litter. then they wait! Answer: I have used clean (untreated) gravel, the kind you would put in a goldfish bowl, in a litter tray and locked the cat in a room with it to get a urine sample. The gravel does not absorb, so the urine can be easily syringed out, or tipped into a sterile container once the gravel is removed. Otherwise, your vet can extract urine by a) expressing his bladder, or b) cystocentesis. Ems x Click here for Ruffdogs Dog Forum! Answer: The most important thing is that anything used to hold the urine must be sterile. The most efficient and accurate way is to have the vet draw it directly from the bladder. Otherwise you might end up doing additional test because of an unfavorable urinalysis result. And, end up with the vet draining urine from kitty's bladder, anyways, for an accurate reading. It's easy to understand what cats want, just listen to what they say...MEeee NOWwww Answer: I have a cat who did that. I filled the tub with a little bit of water and she stopped peeing and pooping in the tub. However, I apparently made her mad when I did that because she then went on the guestroom bed! The bathtub didn't seem so bad after that! I may have won the battle but she won the war!! Answer: jbeanie10 So what did you do with the cat in the long run? I am going through this with my cat Duchess right now. Answer: So what did you do with the cat in the long run? I am going through this with my cat Duchess right now. We cleaned the bed well and put updside down carpet runner on the bed (it has hard, plastic tacks) . We left it there for a few weeks. That stopped her from going on the bed. She still occasionally poops in the bathtub or on the bathroom rug but that is better than the alternative. We have also learned that she needs a lot of attention from my husband and we both try to give her a lot of attention because it seems like she punishes us when she doesn't get enough. Our vet had a lot of isuggestions-putting her food where she is misbehaving, confinement and if it anxiety related, anit-anxiety meds. We didn't have to do these things but they are other ideas. Answer: jbeanie10....ok.....your bed solution makes sense but wont work for me because my Duchess pee's on me when I am sleeping in it! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
