Question:
I really just need to vent, so bear with me on this post. I don't know if anyone remembers me posting last year about our kitten Tom that we got from the shelter who ended up being feline leukemia positve. And then my parents took him and he had a great several months with them before becoming very ill and having to be euthanized. Anyway, I really never wanted to have to experience any of that again. Well, last night I found a cat in our back yard. I couldn't leave him, so I brought him in and put him in our extra bathroom. His eyes looked horrible, they were red and running. So I took him into my work today to have him examined by one of our vets. I guess he had ulcers on both eyes that are pretty much healed, but did alot of damage and he now has very little sight. That isn't even the worst part. I also had them run a FELV/FIV test on him and he came back positive for FELV. I feel like I am reliving what happened last year with Tom. I don't know what I am going to do with this cat. I can't justify having him euthanized at this point, other than his eyes he isn't having any other health problems. Why cut his life short when he could have a few good years left? I just couldn't live with myself. I have 11 FELV negative cats, so keeping him is out of the question. If anyone knows of any resuces that would take him please feel free to email me. I am really at a loss.
