World's Best Cat Litter

Question:
I'm currently using Arm&Hammer cat litter but have been thinking of trying/switching to WBCL. Has anyone tried it and if so what do you think of it? Is it dusty? How well does it control odors?
Answer:
I like it, and think it does fine with odors, but at least a couple of people here say that it produces an odor like 'stinky cheese' when wet. I haven't noticed it myself, so maybe it has something to do with the cat using it. I don't find it dusty, but I think it tends to track a bit more than clay litter. Sometimes I also wonder about how smart it is to leave a big pan of corn out when we're having a bad mouse season (is it just like leaving a huge bowl of mousie Grape Nuts out? ) but overall, my experience with it has been fine.
Answer:
I've been using it about 2 months now. I was one of the people whom complained about the stink. To be honest I thought the smell of it was just as bad as the smell of what went in it. But I'm not sure what happened but I dont smell it anymore. At first I thought that maybe I became accustom to it and that may be the case but you would think if I'm out of the house all day at work then I shouldnt be accustom to it when I go home. Anyway now that I'm not turned off by the smell of the stuff I like it. I like that its enviormentally safe. It doesnt seem to be overly dusty. I like its clumping capability and I like that fact that its flushable. As far as odor control I'm not to sure I'm a new cat owner and dont have alot of litter experience to make a comparison. When My cats go you know it. It stinks to high heaven. If I dont get to it right away after a few hours the smell is gone. I dont know if thats the odor control of the litter or just the natural dissipation of the odor.
Good point about the mouses gudewife now that its turning could I'll be hearing the little buggers running around in my walls and attic. I wonder if the corn crumbs is going to attract more.

Cat urine is a well-known mouse repellent, so hopefully the little buggers won't be tempted by the litter!
I love World's Best and have used it for several years. I love that it doesn't stick to the box. Also, my asthma got much better when I switched. At one point one of their formulas was real dusty but they have fixed that. Now their multi-cat formula has a vague lemon scent and is not at all unpleasant.
This is a big switch from clay so do it gradually so the cats don't freak out!

I also use World's Best, and I really like it...... uhhh, well, more importantly, the *cats* like it, . The clumping is great, I haven't had any problems scooping. It does track the same as other litters, but it's just as easy to vacuum up. I like the smell of the fresh litter, and don't have a problem with any smell buildup, but as mentioned already, other members have.
Most importantly, I feel really good that when my kitties are grooming their toesies, any litter they ingest is ok, and won't harm their insides.
Oh, and ditto what Dr. Jean said, it took a little while for them to warm up to the new litter, they would eye it suspiciously, dipping their paws in and right back out at the beginning, and use the old litter.

Answer:
I haven't used it yet, but I like the fact that it's environmentally friendly. That alone is a great feature!

i'm definitely a fan of world's best's multi-cat formula... a full littermaid of any other clumping litter makes me sneeze, and makes my kitties sneeze too... it all cleared up when i switched to world's best. i love the fact that i know it's safe for my kitties... and if there ever is a problem with the odor, i just sprinkle some baking soda or a bit of arm & hammer litter in there and it does the trick. works well with my littermaid, kitties love it... and i can't wait to start taking advantage of their rewards program can you tell that i love this litter?

I have 3 boy cats (2 are 10 months) and I'm looking for a new litter because the Tidy Cat - Mutiple Cats is just not working. I like the fact that it's non-clumping, but it's just not doing anything for the smell and dust everywhere.
I'm considering switching to WBCL, but I was wondering if it's safe for ingestion, but not just by licking their paws. The breeder we got our kittens from doesn't want us using any type of clumping litter because it can get stuck on their "private area." Is that true of this litter? Or is this litter safe, even though it's considered a clumping litter?

I am fast becoming an unofficial WBCL rep
I love it, but my cats didn't like the extra strength multiple cats formula (even though the smell is slightly nicer).
We are looking after a feral kitten at work (which we now have indoors and healthy) and I started using WB with him as traditional clumping is too dusty and smells disgusting. Now everyone at work has changed to it too.
It clumps great, doesn't smell too much (I am one of the people who never noticed the mouldy cheese smell), my cats love it (except it is lighter than traditional litter and magnum tipped over the whole box last week I love that it is safe for my kitties (I read somewhere that you can actually eat the stuff, but I wouldn't recommend this - especially once your cat has used it )
I find that although it does track, it tracks probably less than traditional clumping and doesn't hurt as much when you walk across it bare foot.
I have never seen much litter get stuck on our boys 'private parts',. but it is safe to digest regardless.

When you guys say it clumps, what clumps? the poo or the urine? Im using tidy cats, even though i clean the poo out as soon as he goes i cant seem to get the urine out. THe urine isnt clumping so i can dump it. I try and get most of it out but i wind up just mixing it in. Its not stinking yet bu im sure it wont be much longer till it needs replaced.
Is it possible to put the litter box outside? will he know that its out there?
Answer:
The urine clumps well - which is why I like it - I found with clay it always fell apart and you were left scooping for ages to get little bits out.
Generally the litter just sticks to the 'poo' but the urine binds it together in a clump.
I am not sure about putting litter outside - most cats that go outside would use grass etc rather than litter I would imagine, and you would have to find somewhere fairly well covered so it didn't get wet if it rains etc otherwise it would be a big icky mess.

Are you using one of the Tidy cat scoopable litters or the regular clay one? Not all Tidy Cat litter clumps. I am pretty sure the ones in the bag are not clumping and the ones in the plastic containers do.
Also, if it is one of the scoopable ones you are using, are you trying to take out the urine as soon as your cat pees? In my experience with most if not all clumping litter, you need to wait 30 sec to a minute for the litter to bind to all of the urine. If your cat pees and you immediately try and scoop it out, it won't be enough time for it time form a clump.
Can't help with the outdoor question but you should be able to find a litter that does not have an odor problem, so that you don't have to. I know some people keep the boxes in the garage with a cat door installed - but you obviously have to be careful when coming and going so the cat doesn't get out and of course there are usually things in a garage a cat should not have access too - chemicals, etc.
About 2-3 years ago I used World's Best but about 18 months ago I bought the mutlicat formula and it just smelled really bad and the cats didn't like it anymore either so I switched to Swheat Scoop. I talked to a World's Best rep at a Pet Expo earlier this year and they told me they had problems with the formula but that it was all fixed. They gave me coupons for free bags so I tried it again but I still didn't like it as much as I used to which is kind of a bummer.
But Swheat Scoop and Feline Pine (and now the new Scoopable Felnie Pine!) work well for me,
Note: Some people don't like Swheat Scoop cuz it sticks to the pan. Solution: First of all, make sure the litter depth is 3" and secondly, (a tip from a Petsmart customer) spray the pan with a nonstcik cooking spray; scoops right out!

I definitely need to switch litter. I just adopted a kitten and while my other 2 cats are toilet trained, this one was having trouble with potty training so we decided to stick w/a litter box for now. I think I am using A&H and it's not covering the odor. I like the fact that I can flush the litter, would you be able to flush WBCL? I would definitely switch if it would cover up the odor.
Thanks,
Lisa

Answer:
It says its flushable but with the amount we go through with 4 big cats - I don't flush - I think I remember someone on here saying they flush it, perhaps they will see your post.
