Zodiac flea collar?

Question:
I purchased a flea collar yesterday for my baby Katamari, she didn't seem to even be annoyed by it but I completely disliked it, it smells a lot and there is dust everywhere in the collar (it says it'll kill the cat if ingested) I don't know how they can assume the cat won't try to lick the dust out of her!.
Anyways I found another scary post about another zodiac product and I was wondering if it is just my imagination, maybe I am too picky with the products I use on my baby.? Did anybody use Zodiac before?
When I touched the collar I had a burning sensation in my fingers!.
Answer:
Throw it away immediately!
I would never use any over the counter flea (or worming) products. They can be very dangerous for cats and it's beyond me why they are still sold for them. I also don't think flea collars are a good idea anyway. They aren't very effective and, whatever is on the collar is being inhailed by your cat.
I would get some Advantage or Frontline instead. They are a little more expensive but much safer and MUCH more effective!
Answer:
I contacted Zodiac and requested my money back, I don't know if they are actually going to do it but I'll try, the stupid thing cost 5 dollars ! and it burns!. Anyways, if I can't get my money back I'll use it in the vacuum when I pick up cat hair.
I am sure my cat has fleas, not a lot because she doesn't scratch that much, she was rescued and I am not so sure the people who got her cleaned her, I don't think so.... Anyways, I'm getting frontline and I'm cleaning the house from fleas this weekend (after stitches from surgery are removed).
Is it possible for fleas to live in my hair or body?, I have long hair and lately it itches a lot!!!. I shower twice a day though. Any suggestions?
Answer:
I purchased a flea collar for my kitty and when I took her to the vet, the vet took the collar off, told me that flea collars don't work and suggested Frontline or Advantage like nanook said.
Answer:
Ah, yes, flea collar in the vacuum. Perfect! That's all they are really good for as far as I'm concerned!
No, fleas will not live on you. Actually, they don't even hang out on your cat. They live in the environment and just jump on your cat to feed. Yuck! They will bite people too though.
I use Advantage, and so far, I have not had to treat my house but it depends how bad they are. If you've got a lot of them, you may need to treat the house as well. Boric acid works very well. If you have a really bad infestation, you may need to bomb.
Answer:
Petgurad has an all-herbal flea collar if you are interested.
Married for one year. Three male cats. Three female cats.
Answer:
do natural collars work?, what are they made of?. Boy that collar really burn my fingers! and I have a rash in my arm too!.
I'm really concerned because my kitty still has diarrhea, it is so strange, I didn't change her food but she has had some stuff going on in her life that are really upseting her, several actually, she found out about the loud gardeners who come by every couple of weeks, they scare the hell out of her with their machines.
My house has big windows and sometimes some bugs get in, the other day she was chasing and killed several hoppers -the small ones with clear yellowish bodies- YUCKS , I noticed she didn't eat them but when I wasn't looking (yeah, right) she ate one I stopped her but I imagine she eats them when I'm away. She has also been nibbling on grass which is also new to her.
I don't know... I have an appointment with the vet on Saturday but I am worried about this issue... she is still eating and drinking water normal, she is actually drinking a lot of water because it is so hot...
Answer:
Personally, I think flea collars are, at best, a waste of money. Natural or otherwise.
I'm sorry to hear she still has diarrhea. A couple of suggestions:
When you go to the vet, bring a fresh stool sample if you can, and have them run it for parasites. Since she's had fleas, chances are she has tapeworms. I would also have them check for giardia and coccidia. The tests aren't always accurate for those two, but they are often the cause of unexplained diarrhea. When I first got Nanook, all his fecal tests showed normal, but he still had diarrhea, so the vet finally just treated for giardia and that cleared it right up. Certainly worth talking to your vet about.
Good luck!
P.S. I wouldn't worry about the bugs.
Answer:
I heard somewhere that Flea Collars can cause Cancer-just by being ON the cat. Very dangerous. Frontline, Advantage, although expensive seem to be the best in some of the comparision charts.
