what is this? what should I do?
Question: a few weeks ago my cat had a sore on her belly. it looked like it was healing by itself so we just let it be. then it started to get worse, then there were more of them. What is it? What should I do about it? here are pics (warning, kinda gross): on her belly down her leg cailincat.textamerica.com - see our adventures tash11.deviantart.com-art Answer: It's not easy to tell from looking at pictures, but its very possible that the cat is having a very severe reaction to something. The little thing really needs to see a vet at the soonest possible moment, that just has to be miserable. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com Answer: Might be ringworm...there are others here who can probably tell better. But in any case, I'd recommend a visit to the vet. Onyx & Callie May forever in my heart. Answer: it doesn't really look like ringworm... but if it is I'd say its pretty bad. Whatever it is, it doesn't look good and is spreading. I'd take her to a vet as soon as you can and have them look at it. Jessie "There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast." Answer: I am preaty sure its not ringworm. its more like an open sore, like if you skin your knee. it was getting better for a while. Almost looked like she was licking it too much and it couldnt heal. then there were more. its just kinda raw looking.... could it be stress? we moved in november. she had to fly on the plane with me. now she has a toddler who wants to give her stuff (like toys, clothes, etc) all the time........... cailincat.textamerica.com - see our adventures tash11.deviantart.com-art Answer: If its stress... do you think she could be pulling her hair out and leaving a sore there? My parents had a cat a while back that started to get sick (he had cancer). But before they could see that he was getting sick... he was pulling his hair out (like big chunks!). I assume because of stress and that he knew he was sick and noone else did. Just a thought. Answer: some sort of abcess? I would DEFINITELY get her to the vet ASAP! Answer: Since it obviously isn't going away on its own (its getting worse, even) she needs a vet... allowing it to spread isn't fair to her, and isn't healthy, either. -Bella Answer: Agree about the vet visit. Some possibilities: Flea allergy dermatitis Mange Ringworm Allergies Immune mediated disease Bacterial infection psychogenic alopecia (behavioral) cystitis or other causes of abdominal pain Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
