Sore mouth = Calivirus, FIV, Leukemia?

Question:
Mod please delete oops.
Answer:
One of the first signs often seen with Calicivirus and FeLV is gingivitis or stomatitis. Has your vet done a test to check for FIV and FeLV? That test would be quite inexpensive, and would help determine the likelihood of either of these diseases. Sorry, but I have no idea about whether tooth removal is necessary at this point. Hopefully others will have more information for you.
Thanks Des for the fabulous sig!

Answer:
He's doing to tests today.
If a test is positive, then I don't see why he couldn't have steroid treatment since there is no cure - the steroids give him 6 months of no pain/stinkiness.
