Kitten Burnt his nose on candle, now acting weird
Question: My 8 week old kitten got alittle to close to a candle and burnt his nose, you cannot tell by looking at it that it is burnt, But he has been drooling or liquid is coming out of his nose ever sence, he is also not eating very much, and has been sleeping alot..i donot have the money to take him to a vet, is there anything you suggest that i can do? thanks so much. michelle Answer: Call the Vet and see what they say. 8 weeks is very young, and burns can get infected veery easily. Get rid of the candles. Edit: Michelle, on second thought, I would say you need to get the kitten into a Vet right away. Thinking about what pain this could cause, on top of an infection if the burn isn't kept clean, does require medical attention, anti-biotics and a proffessional to diagnois the exrent of the injury. Money, well your going to have to work that out somehow later, credit card, pawn stuff, ask your local church, freinds, whatever it takes to be sure this special friend isn't suffering while you are at the responcibility for care. It may seem like alot, but you've got to do the very best possible or your going to end up feeling very guilty. It's hard to understand how to deal with some tradegies initially, though I would consider this a medical problem that needs immediate attention. Your little buddy depends on you to do your best. Best wishes for you both. Answer: I suspect this doesn't have anything to do with a candle and a burnt nose. Those symptoms don't make sense for that scenario. I suspect it's just coincidence. What I do think is that your kitten is ill and needs to see a vet. If your kitten has never seen a vet, it needs a complete checkup anyway. Illness can progress rapidly in kittens. Tim Answer: I agree with Tim...if you can't notice anything wrong with his nose, then I doubt that it's infected and isn't causing the lack of appetite and lethargy. An 8 week old kitten that sleeps a lot and isn't interested in food is not a normal situation...this kitten needs to see a vet. If his nose is running, it's probably a simple Upper respiratory infection (kitty cold), but without treatment, a young kitten could easily die. Adopting a kitten comes with a financial responsibility beyond food and litter, you need to have a means to pay for unexpected vet care...a savings account, a credit card etc. Onyx & Callie May forever in my heart. Answer: Quote: [..i donot have the money to take him to a vet, ) Owning a cat is just more than feeding it. There are going to be medical needs for the kitten. I don't want to sound mean, but why get a kitten/cat if you do not have the money to take it to the vet when it is suffereing? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
