help. kitty sicknessessssss
Question: Ok.. I'm new to this forum and i'm posting because today i figured out that my dear sweet (bratty princess) kitty was sick. Maybe its only a stomach ache or something, but i love her to death and dont like to see her like this. My cats name is Wendesday, she was found by the side of the road, with her brother last august. They were around 6 weeks old by then. They looked just like kittens you would buy out of a pet store.. except for the fact that their mother was on the road. Not a pretty site. Wendesday was very bratty, and very scared. Her brother, Pugsley was a people cat.. wanted attention and wanted to play. He was adopted emidiatly (cant spell sorry). Anyway, i took Wendesday home with me and we fell for each other. She's still a brat, but a spolied loving (to me) one at that. She's a predy blue with large oval brown eyes and a white patch on her chest. Anyway. She's normally very active, she's around a year old now, maybe a bit older and spayed. She goes outside once in a while and loves it out there. I try to keep her in at nights and for most of the days unless its a nice day.. then she can explore. This morning, i woke up to see my cat sleeping in the hall next to her best friend, my dog. (big golden retreiver) They were so cute together, but she seemed kind of out of it. More tired than normal. I kind of dismissed it and went down stairs, expecting her to follow me and beg for her breakfast... That never happened. She stayed upstairs in the same spot, basically drifting back to sleep. This kind of worried me, she's not much of a sleeper durring the day (ironically). I picked her up and brought her down with me. Got her food out and put it on the floor. (she eats dry purina brand food) She looked at it, then walked away and lied back down. Again, i was worried, but i didnt really push it. I was sure it would pass. I told my parents not to let her out, to keep her in for today. They did so like the good parents they are. I went out to my work till around 7pm and came home. Tried to feed my still sleepy kitty, but she still wouldnt eat. Now i was real worried. I picked through and cleaned her litter box and found that she had recently had diharea (cant spell again). I cleaned and put fresh litter in. She was lieing on my desk at that point, basically sleeping again. I went out with my brother for a while, wishing my kitty to feel better before hand. I just recently got home and went online looking for kitty info. My cats ears are very warm, i read that it could be a sign of a fever.. She's breathing fairly fast and is basically asleep. (in the same spot as before i left, on my desk).. about 66 breaths per minute.. She's not panting, but.. i read that 20-30 per minute is normal so this is making me worrie even more. i hope that this is just a passing sickness, but i'm not sure. If anyone has any info for me i'd be very happy. Any questions just ask and i'll try to answer it. Please help me and Wendseday.. Answer: shantor, i would take her to the vet as soon as you can... loss of appetite and not being energetic, as well as the diarrhea are things that you should have examined as potential symptoms of a bigger problem. please take her to the vet in the morning -- if you call them, i'm sure they will be able to fit you in. if not, i would take her to an emergency vet since i know i'd be worried sick too! best of luck, and welcome to the forum, brite another great creation by ForJazz Answer: She still hassent drank anything, eaten since saturday night (monday morning now), used the litter box since i cleaning i last night and she's just lieing on my desk. Her ears are cooler now, and she seems a bit more awake, because she purrs when i pet her and when i woke up and said her name she made her happy noise. But i'm still trying to call th vet to make an appointment for today. I wanna make sure my kittys not really sick. Answer: Kitty has a parasite.. It burrowed into the side of her face. Real small black hole right below her ear. No parasite in her system or anything, and the vet thinks that the parasite is the actual thing, not the larve or anything. Kitty has to stay over night to get the parasite surgically removed.... *sniffles* I'm gunna miss her!!! Answer: Yick...I'm so glad you brought her in. I'm sure Wednesday appreciates it too! Answer: Ok, Wednesday is home from the vet. A type of fly landed on kittys head and laid an egg. egg burrowed into kittys head and hatched. Good news for kitty, we caught the bug intime. She had surgery last night to remove the larve, and shes back home. She's still very woobly and very tired. She had a small meal and some water a few hours after she came home. She's actually relying on me to carry her places (very unlike her). She meows when she wants to go somewhere or when she wants to get into my lap. (also very unusual, but she was away from me for a whole day and had a bad experiance so i'll let her do what she wants.) She's a bit more lively than she was when she was sick and when we first brought her home and shes drinking alot of water. She should make a good recovery (says the vet) and i'll post pics soon of her all better. Answer: When I found one of my cats as a starving kitten several years ago, he had two of those wormsin his head/neck region. We were able to remove them ourselves with tweezers and then brought him to the vet for antibiotics. They are so disgusting! I'm so glad your cat is going to make a full recovery. Good work!
