Philly my 12 yr old male cat has had cystitis 4 times in 5 months. Now he is on Orbax and dexamethazone . Do you know what causes cystitis to keep coming back ?
would he possibly be getting it from stress since we moved to a new apt bldg at the end of Oct 03

Recurrent UTI's like this nearly always have an underlying physical cause. In a cat that age, kidney or bladder stones and growths of some kind are high on the suspect list. An abdominal ultrasound is the best diagnostic tool to assess this. A lot of vets want to do xrays first, but xrays are worthless for all but the larger stones. I'd go right for the ultrasound.
