Lili Lambkins Jan 26/02 - Dec 5/04
Question: On December 5th I made the decision to help Lili Lambkins to the Bridge. On the Thursday she'd begun having seizures and on Sunday she gave me the sign I'd been watching for - she didn't want to go on anymore. Lili Lambkins was just shy of her 3rd birthday - it's rare that a rat lives to that ripe old age. She'd been battling a few medical problems since her tumour-removal surgery in September, but she soldiered on and enjoyed life to the fullest regardless of the breathing problems, rear-end degeneration, and total blindness and deafness. But with the seizures her quality of life plummeted, and I let her go quietly and peacefully at the emergency vet. Lili Lambkins came with her sister Iris Luminous from Bluenose Rattery (theratlady) to live with me in March 2002 and was a character right from the beginning. She's the one who managed to hang off the side of the cage, pee on my then-boyfriend's forehead, then jumped down and turned her back innocently as if to say 'What? It wasn't ME!' She was also my favourite and although it breaks my heart whenever I lose one of my furbabies, it hit me especially hard when I had to let Lili go. I haven't been able to write a proper tribute til now. Lili, my little lamb, you deserve to rest now, free of disability. I miss you every day but know you're in a better place now, with all my other little guys who went to the Bridge ahead of you. Answer: ohhhh,,,Im so sorry Answer: She was definitely a fighter. I'm so glad that she got to spend her last days with you, the one who loved and cherished her. Answer: Farewell Lili, you made your mama very proud and she loves you so much. You get to see your other rattie buddies now and please tell then I say "Hello." Banshee, I'm so sorry for all the loss you've had this year. But what amazing rats you have! Answer: It must be hard to lose two so close together.. Take care Banshee.. you're a wonderful & caring rattie mom.. Answer: Oh Banshee.... Answer: Bridget, you certainly did everything you possibly could for Lili. I know how much she meant to you and I am sorry you had to part with her. Just remember all the wonderful memories you have of your precious baby. Answer: You seem to be going through a really rough patch with your pets I know how it feels tolose a pet you are so attached to. I'm very sorry for your loss and hope you can take comfort in knowing you offered Lili and all the others the best life they could have. They were lucky to have you Answer: I wanted to add in here though I know the post is a bit old, the memory of her isnt. I know how special she was to you. Huge hugs. Answer: Thank you, Jess - that is so sweet! And thank you to everyone for their kind words of comfort. Each time I lose a rat, my heart breaks, but when I lost Lili I found it especially hard to deal with. I still can't really talk about losing her without blubbering shamelessly, and I apologize for not revisiting this thread to thank everyone for their condolences. They are very much appreciated.
