How much does a new pet cost?
Question: I was browsing the Calgary Humane Society site and found a section that gives a budget for various pets. Go to the humane society site http://www.calgaryhumane.ca/ And select Adoption > Selecting a Pet The budgets will come up along the left side. I think that they are a good approximation of how much you should expect to pay for a new pet. Answer: great site thanks Answer: That is a great site! Makes me feel good about clipping our own animals nails, saves us $90 per year for each pet!! And we are lucky enough to have friends and relatives who pet sit so we can eliminate another $140 or so per pet per year. Gee, we can almost afford another animal LOL!! Answer: That's awesome Candice! (great resource for my article!) Answer: Excellent resource. I spend more on my pets though, so it's approximate figures I think.... I don't know why they say 4x$1.99 a month for wet cat food.... Answer: I think its b/c typically people may only feed their cat one large can of cat food a week and feed mostly dry. The rest of the world hasn't done as much research on nutrition as you I see very few people that even feed wet food to their cats or they only give it as a 'treat'... Answer: Oh, I didn't know that!!! I thought everybody fed canned cat food most of the time.... Hank must be spoiled in that case!!! Answer: Yes, your Hank is one lucky girl! I find that the canned food that alot of people feed is 'junk food' as well.. not the better brands that you feed. That's how they end up with finicky eaters that will only eat poor quality food... at least your girl is eating top of the line foods... Answer: I thought wet food was recommended to help prevent urinary tract problems, because cats aren't big water drinkers like dogs? Answer: I think that the companies who sell to Wal-Mart and such, like Fancy Feast and Whiskas, sort of market the foods as a treat. That is my perspective anyway. Neuro, I agree that the value is a bit low compared to what some people pay but I do like how they are assuming that owners buy high quality food (1 bag dry cat food (3.6kg) per month @ $18.95). I know that I pay a lot more in food costs (because of the wet food everyday) and also in the one-time costs. This clause... The above does not include emergency medical care, initial vaccinations, the cost of an outdoor cat run or bed. This also does not include the cost of your time needed for walking, playing and caring for your cat. Is especially true of Syd this year. Not only did she cost a ton but I also had to take some time off of work to get her to her appointments. It just goes to show that no matter how well you care for your pets, things can go terribly wrong. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
