My Sweet Truffles
Question: My poor baby Truffles died this morning. She is the first rattie that I have lost here at home and I feel awful. I didn't even have a chance to take a picture of her while she was alive. She was probably only about 3 weeks old. Truffles: I found you buried in a rattie pile in the feeder tank at a cruel pet store. You were tiny but looked like you would pull through, so I brought you home with your friend Pixie. Pixie played and ran all over, while you were quiet and resting all the time. I didn't think you were sick, because you were just a little baby, and acting like a normal baby girl. You hardly even sneezed. By the time I brought you home, you already must have had a bad infection in your lungs caused by the conditions you lived in. I'm so so sorry that you couldn't grow up and have a wonderful life with us here. I wanted that so badly. You will be forever in our hearts. Please know that you were loved little girl. Love, Human Mommy and Daddy Rattie Moms: Sundae, Peaches, Squeak, Sienna, and Possum Rattie Sisters: Pixie and Sprinkles Rattie Brothers: Bailey and Julian Answer: I'm sooo sorry steph. *hugz* At least she got to live the last of her life in a loving home, rather than the feeder tank at the pet shop. Answer: Oh, no, Steph. 8( I'm so sorry for your loss. 8( Answer: Steph, I am so sorry! I know you said you were worried about her. Are the other ratties doing okay? Answer: I'm so sorry to hear this, Steph! She had a great life with you and at least she knew she was loved before she passed on...Hang in there! Answer: Aww Steph I am so sorry about Truffles! At least the last days of her life where in a loving home with you, Mike and the rest of the pets, and not in the feeder tank at the pet shop.. All I can say is take care and remember the happy times you had together! Answer: Originally Posted by Denise Are the other ratties doing okay? They are fine so far. I'm definitely worried about them but I think Truffles died because she was so small, and had the infection for too long. Its a lot easier to tell if the older ratties are sick, compared to the tiny babies. I will definitely keep a close eye on them for any signs of illness. I'm probably going to get baytril from the vet and treat them all just in case. I knew this was going to happen sooner or later, especially considering that I've gotten all my ratties from such bad conditions. I've been really lucky so far. I tried to prepare myself for this but its still heartbreaking, especially because she was so little. She never got to enjoy much of her life. I am so thankful that she was at least about to enjoy a few days of it, and did climb around the cage and come out for playtime with the other rattie girls. They really cuddled with her and loved her like she was their own baby. This morning she looked really bad, like in a hunched posture having trouble breathing. I took the poor tiny girl out of the cage and set up a little place for her to pass on peacefully. I wrapped her in a little fleece rattie bed to keep her warm. By the time I got back from work only a few hours later, she was gone. Answer: I'm sorry the little one didn't make it.. You did your best for her.. Answer: Steph I am so sorry truffles didn't make it. You gave her a great home for the time she was on earth and I am sure that she passed knowing how much you loved her. Take care Answer: oh no, steph. i'm so very sorry. but she knows she was so loved and she got to pass all snuggled in her blanky. i'm here if you want to talk.
