Whole foods natural pet food- not me
Question: I'm a vegetarian so I shop at Whole Foods/Fresh Fields store. I noticed the other day that they are now carrying a new line of "natural". dog and cat foods. So I thought great, good thing I read the label, it's made in china. The flavors sound good but no way will I buy it. I wonder what's behind this, if they didn't want to buy the food in the U.S. for sale, then why not go to Canada to find a supplier. The moral is I guess read the label. My kids are picky , they want the good stuff and especially like table food. Anybody else here go to whole foods and see this pet food for sale? Answer: Why is it so wrong that it's made in China? Sorry, I've never even heard of the store and I haven't seen that food anywhere so I'm sure I can't check to see whats on the label. Answer: What is the brand name of the food? Answer: Hi Chris, I would stick with the USA brands (Innova,New Prairie,Solid Gold...etc)....your luckly to have the choice and variety ...In Canada I can't always get the natural brands and if I do the store I buy from usually jacks up the price....sad face. Red Answer: I was so happy when I saw that Whole Foods produced a line of cat foods. Though one look at the ingredient list made me want to throw things at people! It's full of by-products! And Whole Foods only carries the best, the most natural, organic foods. Grr! Answer: The new line is called Whole Foods petfood. I wouldn't buy them food from across the world to eat. And not from China anyway. They have different health and safety standards than the U.S. There was an article in a magazine a while back that warned people about buying dishes made in China due to safety reasons, it said there is a high content of lead in some of the dishes they make, which is allowed. I also don't know what the ingredients would be. Of course, generic and supermarket brands are also alot of times not really safe or nutritious to buy for our petkids. Red You're right the premium brands are best and including Wellness on the list. But they are expensive if you have more than a few to feed . It's really the same problem here they're expensive and only available in a few places. My kittys love Wellness dry cat food ( I feed both dry and canned food) , but if I don't have this, I buy Authority brand dry food from Petsmart which they like, but doesn't contain any vegetables. Answer: I Googled Whole Foods and didn't find anything. Does anyone have an ingredient list? Answer: I go there about every two weeks for my veggie food, I'll write down the info for you next time I go. As I say I was real disappointed by where it's made. As the other lady mentioned the other line of petfood (their brand) they carry sounds yucky , contains pork and byproducts beginning part of ingredients. Answer: Here are the Whole Foods Everyday Value pet food: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/prod.../index.html#19 If you click on the individual products, it gives and ingredients list. I'm guessing that these are the ones that Lanka was talking about: they're made in the US (by the looks of it) but they're full of by-products. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
