Dogs still there
Question: Some of you may have already read what I came across when visiting my aunt and uncle's lot. For those of you that havent, here's a summary: My aunt and uncle have been keeping 2 german shepherd dogs in a lot more than 15 minutes away from where they live so they obviously don't go over there everyday. When I went to see the dogs because they told me to (they wanted to know why the female was so skinny ...I am not a vet either), both of the dogs were extremely skinny but the female looked like she was just about to fall over the whole time. They say they feed them but I really doubt they feed them everyday. I was contemplating for months on what I should do. Eventually I called the HSPCA and even e-mailed them about it. I gave them great directions and the exact situation. A month later I asked my cousin if they still had the dogs and he said they did. This is a little cousin so he wouldn't think it was a weird question. He also said that his parents were thinking of selling them but they didn't know. I mean...what the !? I thought complaining about this would take those dogs away. I just don't understand why they are still there. I trusted the shelter in what it did and supported them for it but what they are doing in this case just pissed me off. I e-mailed them again and supposedly they are going to let me know what's going on. They also took a while to even tell me that the message was forwarded to an investigator. Last time I e-mailed them they replied within 24 hours. I think they are doing something wrong. Why would they take so long to e-mail me and tell me the message was forwarded? It's been more than a week and no word from the investigator. Sorry for the rant but this just really makes me mad... Answer: That is so frustrating!! If the HSPCA doesn't help, you are quite limited on what you can do for these dogs. First, you could speak to your aunt and uncle, let them know that you are aware that they are trying to sell the dogs and then help them find homes for them (or take them yourself for awhile). Secondly, you could take matters into your own hands and start feeding the dogs and possibly get them vet care, if needed. It's a terrible situation though. Good for you for trying to help these poor dogs. Answer: This is just what I would do if no one comes to help...I would make sure I found a good home for them in a different town first, and then I would take them out of there without telling ANYONE what I was doing. They are probably going to die anyway if they are that thin, and no one is going to pay money for them in that condition, so your aunt and uncle are stuck with them. There are lots of fosters on the web that can help you out also. Answer: If they were nice small dogs...I would, but they are huge german shepherd guarding dogs that don't do well with strangers. I think they are trying to find a clinic to euthanize them. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
