Jousting Tournament!!!
Question: Well it's almost time for the Calgary Stampede Jousting Tournament, this year will be the first one ever at the Stampede. The first tournament is from July 7-12 and the second is from July 16-17. Rowan and I are training hard to get ready for it. We are only competing in mounted games at tournaments this year because Rowan is so young and I don't want to over work him and Tia has the year off on pasture because she is pregnant and recovering from an injury. Rowan's new Bridle came in today from the U.S and it is gorgeous. It fits him like a glove and can be made bigger everywhere so it will still fit him when he finishes growing (he's turning 4 on Aug 10). It is really nice black harness leather w/ Celtic knots tooled into it and a celtic cross concho that sits in the middle of his forehead. I finished his new costume today, I decided on Rowans colors to be dark hunter green, black, and rusty orange, He is a Red roan w/ a white mane and tail. Tia's colors are Black and burgundy, She has a black body with dark reddish highlights, and light orange and tan points around her flanks, eyes, and muzzle. I am going to get pictures today of Rowan in his new costume and tack and post them online, so if anyone want to see check them out @ http://community.webshots.com/user/rowan_red Answer: That is so cool! I had no idea there was going to be a Jousting Competition at the Stampede this year. Can you give me more details? Answer: The first Tournament will run from July 7 to July 12, 2005, 6-8:00 pm in the Big Top on the Stampede Grounds. July 7th is Sneak-a-Peek and July 8th entrants will be participating in the world-renowned Stampede parade. This tournament, the Sheridan Hughes Conference Championship, has been recently sanctioned by the World Championship Jousting Association and will host jousting troupes from all over North America. We expect to attract approximately 25 knights and their entourages to participate. That's about 100 people in total. The second tournament will be held on July 16 and 17 at the Museum of the Regiments in Calgary. This second tournament will be called the Round Table Tournament and will provide the visiting knights with one last chance to compete in Calgary. This venue holds up to 5000 people per day. Answer: That's interesting! Let us know how you do! Answer: awesome pics I hope you and Rowan do very well Answer: Thank you, I hope we do well, this is his first tournament and my second so we are going to be nervous. Actually Rowan has never been anywhere other than my place or trail rides since he was a baby. This is going to be interesting, hopefully he isn't afraid of crowds, I don't know if I can contain 1700lbs of scared Draft Horse!!! I will update on results when the whole ordeal is over!!! Answer: So are you going to be in both? I will definitely try to make it down to the Big Four to watch! Answer: Well, we are supposed to be in the second one because I have a riding camp to teach during the first one. We now have a problem though, I fell yesterday and reinjured my wrist that a broke a few years back. I was out feeding and I slipped in the mud and landed on my wrist funny and seem to of popped a little peice of my tendon casing out through my wrist joint. It has happened before and needs to be operated on and will put me out of commission for a few weeks. I am going to try to put off the surgery until after the tournament and still go, I can ride wearing my wrist brace. Its sucky timing but what can you do, I guess if I can't ride I will just go and watch. So if anyone is going to watch maybe I'll see you there!!! Answer: I'm definitely going to watch. Keep me posted on how your wrist is doing and if you'll be competing. I hope that you can compete and have the surgery afterwards. Answer: Good Luck!! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
