SPCA at PetsUnlimited in Burnside

Question:
My male suggie, Kalulu, got fixed today, so I was over in Hfx picking up some worms before picking him up at the vets. The store was immaculate, the cages looked clean and there were a tonne of employees in there. AND an SPCA officer walking around taking notes. So who wants to bet they knew he was coming??????? Wonder who warned them

Answer:
Bloody typical. I suspect the SPCA knows what PetsUnlimited is like - they'll get them eventually. Or else PetsUnlimited will have to be on their best behaviour indefinitely. I hate those stores with a passion

Answer:
My friend's dad is a bigwig with pets unlimited but that hasn't stopped my mom and I calling the SPCA on them a few times. Most of the people there don't know the difference between their butt and a watch. We were in the other day and all the kittens and puppies were out of water and only one person in the whole store was doing something. There is no excuse for that. There is also a hedgehog who's had mites for a month and they haven't done anything to fix it!

Answer:
It's possible the SPCA issued them an order to clean up their act, and they were doing a post-order check up.... I know the SPCA in Ontario will usually issue warnings to a pet store and then follow up within a few days to make sure the store complied with the order. If the store doesn't comply, then the OSPCA has the power to seize all the animals. So it's possible that it's just a follow up check after the order has been issued!

Answer:
I'm glad to see the authorities will actually take action against some of these places!
