journey passed
Question: journey passed today at 10:43 a.m. ( sept 4, 2005) the vet made me wait an hour and a half to get in, even though they knew she was an emergency. within that time, she went from a sweet little girl, taking drinks, and licking me, and bright eyed to a nonrsponsive, dull-eyed baby. her tummy swelled up hugely. he is going to do an autopsy, but he says he feels she had pyometria and that her cervix was swelled shut, so i saw no blood. and so she strained to pass the blood and pus so hard that it pushed her uterus out of her body and then there was a break inside and the blood and puss filled her stomach, causing septic shock and death. by the time i got in, all he could do was listen to her heartbeat as it faltered and quit. i had no idea she was sick. she showed no signs. she ate, she drank, she balled all over the place, and slept on my tummy and acted perfectly like journey. and now she is gone. and no one understands because she was not a "big" animal like a dog or a cat. i have been crying and ill all day. she was my lost baby. i lost lua to cancer several months ago. i am devastated. she would have been 4 in december and i had had her since weaning. we did pull a few quills first, so i could put them away and she is in their hands for autopsy and cremation. my heart is heavy. Answer: I am sorry for your loss (and sorry that the vet made you wait like that). Some people just don't understand that every pet is special - regardless of his or her size. Answer: Awww, I am so sorry, Angela. She sounds like she was a really special hedgie. She is pain free and beginning her final journey to the bridge where she can roam free and eat mealies. for you as I know you will miss her terribly. Funny how a little one like that can find a spot in your heart as well as (or even more so) than a larger cat or dog animal. I understand how those hedgehogs can capture your heart. Rest in peace Journey! Answer: I'm so sorry Angela.. I can't believe you had to wait that long.. if that was me, I would have gone to the clinic as soon as they opened anyway.. When they saw the seriousness maybe they would have squeezed you in earlier.. though if it was pyrometra I'm sure it would have been too late by that time anyway.. So sad.. Answer: Angela, I'm so sorry journey had to go this way I understand and sympathize with your loss. I was just as lost when I lost my first chinnie almost 2 years ago now. Answer: I am so sorry Angela We all understand your love, Answer: I'm so sorry. Answer: So sorry for your loss, Weese- Journey was a special girl. -hug- Answer: Weese I am so sorry to hear about Journey. And yes the little ones can fill your heart with love just as much as the big ones and sometimes more. Answer: Im so sorry Angela Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
