Pitbull problems
Question: Well my bf's older brother is having problems with their neighbours Pitbull. The brother was standing on his porch with the screen door open having a cigarette when out of now where this pittbull runs straight towards him and into the house, the dog then tries to get the cat. Finally the brother grabs his bow and arrow and aims it at the dog who then takes off outside. This is especially scary since they have a 1 year old little boy. The dog keeps coming around and when he called the animal service place they said you have to go talk to the owners, he did that but the dog still keeps coming around. My question is if the dog chooses to come into the house again does my bf's brother have the right to shoot the dog? Answer: i would rather see him catch the dog and call animal control to pick him up... Answer: What do the owners say? How does the dog get out of their yard? I don't think they should shoot the dog if the dog isn't harming anyone , he seems just to be upsetting them. Isn't there a way if your brother goes out side to close the door for the dog will not enter? Answer: Ok maybe I should have stated it better, if the dog does end up coming back and hurting the baby or another pet in their house, does the brother have the right to shoot the dog? I am not sure what the owners have said but by the sounds of things they don't really care to much and must not keep him locked in the backyard. If it were me and a Pitbull or any other dog kept coming around, that would be threatening to me, if it was my house I should have the freedom to keep my doors open when I want without worrying some strange animal will enter my home when I am standing right there. I think he should try capturing the dog and then just call animal services, the neighbours obviously aren't too worried about it. On the other hand if it was going to injure a child or another pet, I wouldn't hesitate to hti it over the head with something. Answer: I agree with you on your last statement Answer: if he is acting in a threatening way, i would think your brother would be in his rights to defend his pets and family. but you are right, the best way to handle it would be to catch the dog, call animal control, tell them that he keeps coming over and that you want him gone. Answer: My question is- if this animal is "dangerous" why is it not being treated as such, and why isn't anyone doing anything? If they wait until it attacks the cat, then I hate tos ay it- it's their own darn fault. Also, just because a dog- ANY dog is cat OR dog aggressive does not make it human aggressive. Is it acting aggressively to people? Answer: Once there was a man where I lived who owned pitbulls and he was starving them and teasing them and taunting them. Locked them up all the time. The dogs were crazy. One night one got out and into the neigbours yard and attacked their old dog. When Aaron opened the back door to see what was happening, the dog ran in the house and ran after his wife and newborn child. He got out his gun (shot gun) and killed it with the butt of it. Broke his gun. Never got charged. I do know that when a human enters your property if you feel threatened you can shoot. If you're really worried about it, either call your local authorities to find out or animal control. But the dog is on his property and if he feels threatened...well. It's actually pretty hard to knock out a pitbull without killing it. They have rather thick skulls. Answer: Originally Posted by Shadow I do know that when a human enters your property if you feel threatened you can shoot. You might want to double check that one before you find yourself in jail for murder. Sounds to me like a bit of pitbull prejudice. If it was a cocker spaniel running in to the house going after your (or your brothers) cat, would you expect that he should kill it? You're right, you and I should have the right to keep the door open on our home if we want to, but the reality is, that is just stupid. The kids might get out, the pets might get out, someone wanting to rob you might get in, there are a miriad of reasons not to leave your door open. Maybe the dog is being starved and wants food? Maybe it just wants attention? Maybe it is being abused and is trying to escape its owners? If your brother is aiming a bow and arrow at a dog in his home with the kids around, maybe your bro isn't too bright? Seriously, how hard is it to lead the dog in to a bedroom, bathroom, porch, whatever, close the door and call a humane society or animal control? Answer: ...sorry, in the post above, "your brother" is meant to be your "boyfriends brother". Also tried to add that I currently have 15 dogs and 9 cats in my rescue. Almost all of the dogs chase after the cats, but only because they are curious or want to play - and that includes my 3 pitbulls. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
