Some Horse pics!

Question:
Hi all!

I just uploaded a big bunch of horse pics I took while I was doing my practice, I thought that maybe some of you might be interested. Now, let me tell you first, this was a horse hospital, so you'll see some with bandages and catheters on... maybe a bit of blood or something... but nothing really graphic or gross. I just thought that I should warn you just in case, it didn't surprised you... I didn't posted them directly cause there are over 60 pics. Anyway, enjoy the pics, there are some pretty horsied there. (All of them are thoroughbred, BTW)

Answer:
Wow, that was very interesting. I wish there were captions to tell me what exactly was going on with them. For the foal, were you giving it a blood transfusion? What was wrong with it?

Answer:
Yup, that was a blood transfussion we were giving to the foal. She had Neonatal isoerythrolysis, which is a condition in which the inmunoglobulins recieved in the colostrum from the mare attack the red blood cells from the foal, causing anemia. What was fun is that that foal had a lot of streght and was running around, so we were running after him with the bag of blood... it was really interesting when he just ran under the mare. We ended up standing each at each side of the mare, and just pass the bag of blood to each other... heh.

And sorry I didn't put captions, there were just too many pictures... and I was lazy... lol

Answer:
Wow great pics! Our Clyde needs his eye removed So Ill take pics before and after just for the sake of his file we have kept. If you are interested in pics I can send them once he gets this done. He is on lots of meds now so we have yet to decide a date as the vet suggested it didnt need immediate attention so it might be a month or a year from now

Answer:
Thanks!

Poor Clyde 8( Yeah, I would like to see pics. What are the meds he's recieving for?

Answer:
wow what interesting pics

Jess,,,how come he has to have an eye removed? Poor Clyde

Answer:
He is on Bute adn eye cream just to keep it non inflammed. Its only bad once in a while but the optomitrist we took him to and our regular vet attended to listen as well that long term the eye removal would be benificial because when his eye does act up he most likely gets anything from a mild headache to a migrane and the operation would have him pain free instead of having to take away his pain using bute on and off.
