Pet Going To Surgery, How can I be Stronger?
Question: Hello, My Name is James, and I live outside of Detroit Michigan. I have had problems in my life and I have never been so emotional about anyone or anything like my baby duck, Ritzy Quackers Aflac (Ritzy). Yes.. A Duck... Ritzy has a tumor on her ovarian duct.. All eggs produced fall into her abdomen since the normal path is blocked.. she has alot of fluid backing up into her abdomen and 4 days ago they pumped out 1 lb of fluids.. She is seing an Avian Surgeon on 6/27 (Tuesday) and they say the operation if performed is very risky.. I am very scared. How can I be Stronger going into this? I have been a crying mess for the past few days when the chance of losing her comes up. James Answer: I'm not sure how to be stronger but I hope Ritzy pulls thru ok.. let us know what happens. Answer: Even when my guys have been in for "routine" surgeries I was always a basket case, waiting to hear that they were okay. I hope Ritzy will pull through okay. When is her surgery? Answer: James, I'm thinking is there any need to be strong? Ritzy is a very important part of your family, and she's having a major operation, I don't blame you for being a teary mess... I would be, in the same situation. Society has these expectations that you don't show your feelings, and they can be particularly judgemental if they don't share them ie they don't value pets as much as we do. Is there any way you could spend some time with people who think the same way you do, or who accept how much you love Ritzy? You're going to need support, and negative people aren't going to be any help. We're thinking of you, and hoping all goes well. Do let us know how it goes. Scotia Answer: That's a great answer, Scotia Answer: Sometimes there's nothing worse than just the waiting! It's so hard to be strong for our babies when they're undergoing surgery. Ever since a rabbit of mine died years ago undergoing a neutering operation, I've been a basket case every time one of my babies has to have an operation. Unfortunately, I know no way of being strong myself! Just know that there are so many others out there who, like you, feel strongly for their beloved pets. Some people don't, and will never, understand how we feel for our animals. Best wishes for Ritzy! Melissa Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
