Momma Marshmallow
Question: Its hard to believe that 13 years went by so quickly! Momma Marshmallow, my parents oldest cat at 14 years old, had to be put to sleep last Friday after her kidneys failed. I am thankful that she had been energetic and showed no signs of the failing kidneys until last week when they did blood work. Marshmallow became part of our family when I was in 9th grade. She was abandoned on our street (my dad saw people actually throw her out of their car) with a broken paw and a huge fear of humans. Just trying to get close enough to her to take her to the vet was hard but we managed with a little food. A couple months later, right before we went to have her fixed, we found out she was pregnant. In March of 1994, Inky and Charmin entered out lives. That was the only time Marshmallow would let us pet her and she was such a fantastic mom. Momma M. never became that super friendly cat like the rest of ours had been...she even had a big black mark on her file at the vet b/c of her aggressiveness with strangers (they had to sedate her to do simple shots). With age, she did allow my mom and I to pet her, but only the amount of time she thought was appropriate She always loved her kittens, cleaning their heads when they would lay next to her but then she was quick to swat them when enough was enough. Even though I have not lived at home for a long time, she still felt like my pet and I visited enough that none of the animals have forgotten me. Charmin is really missing her momma right now and Inky is looking for someone to clean her head. We are all going to really miss Momma Marshmallow and her fiestiness. It never gets easier to loose a furry family member. I am very thankful for her long healthy life and for giving us Charmin and Inky. Answer: It sounds like she had a good full life with your family.
