Question:
My friend gave me a hamster recently. I never had one before so I don't really know much about them only what she told me. He was a happy little hamster until a few days ago.
He used to run around his cage all the time but now he is just lying in the corner. He doesn't eat or drink much and his fur is darker than usual but that I think is just a water as he tries to reach for his bottle. His eyes are closed and he scratches himself all the time. Oh, and he is missing one front leg. We didn't realise it until later and I didn't want to get rid off him. Problem is we can't handle him. There's no way he would let us touch him. He is very small and unbelievably fast.My friend says that hers is also very wild and there's nothing I can do about it. She said it's a Russian hamster or something like that.
Does anyone know what could be wrong with him.

How old is he? You need to take him to the vet, antonia. He sounds very sick. Get him well then work on taming him. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to handle him after you have spent time working with him. Good luck and hope he feels better.
