Cayo Santiago
Question: I don't know if anyone remembers when I said about having gone to Cayo Santiago with my class to see a free-ranging colony of rhesus macaques... well... my niece brought me the camera cable at last, so I have the pics up!!!! I'll post the address to the album, since there are 62 pics there... heh... anyway... here is my favorite pic... And here is the album... enjoy!!! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v605/Padfoot83/Cayo%20Santiago/?start=all Answer: I DID enjoy that, Thanks! Couple of questions.. what were those eggs? and what is the purpose of that enclosure? Is that where they eat? Answer: Thanks! 8) Those weren't eggs, they were hermit crabs... lol And yup, the enclosures are where they put food for the monkeys. Those bare still monkeys used for research, but they are mainly used for behavior studies, so they just provide food and let them do the rest. Once a year they trap all the monkeys to count them, take blood samples (for genetics studies), and vaccinate them against tetanus. They use those enclosures to trap them also (lure them in with food, and trap them) Answer: Hermit crabs! OK, I went back for a better look.. makes sense now. I think it was picture 10 that looked like eggs.. hehehe Answer: LOL, yeah, the 2 ones on the ground, I realized that after you asked... lol.. I took pics of them cause they were HUGE... I mean.. I was about 15 feet away from them and the pic turned out ok (couldn't get closer for the pic cause there was a monkey nearby and it is not a good idea to get to close to the monkeys...)
