Huge Pet Food Recall

Question:
Thought I would share with the rest of you. There is a huge recall right now by Menu Foods. This impacts many brands but (as far as I know) only "cuts and gravy" types. Please check the site to make sure that your pet's food is not affected.

Answer:
I've been following the news.
Seems one cat has been confirmed lost due to the feed here on the Rock.
But so many pets lost, so many hurting pet owners.
What gets me, as the above owner said on the news," how did it get so wide spread"???
I mean a couple of hundred sick animals is a misstake, this many is pure ignorance.
Some one isn't doing their job!

Answer:
This is not in the least acceptable. I feel lucky that we rarely feed canned food. I thought I was just being cheap.

Answer:
Yes, it is very scary! And the brands affected are widely popular.

Answer:
14 pet deaths (not sure if that was just Ontario or nationally) and a class action lawsuit has been filed.

Answer:
I have a question..do you guys think that any of these food companies that manufacture their own dry foods would let someone from the public, such as you or me..to go into the factory and look around for our own piece of mind?
I'm so suspicious about dry dog food now..and canned especially..I feed my dogs innova evo and timberwolf organics (rotate)...and I'm not even 100 percent comfortable with it now with all this crap happening..gosh its scary..we honestly DON'T know what goes into our pet foods..
How open would all of these companies be about anyone visiting..and would you have to make an appointment first (so that maybe they can prepare the factory for the visit and make it spik and span) or could you just drop in?
It's all too scary...

Copied and pasted from another forum:

I can't believe they are not making them recall this. They admit it causes genetic mutations and tumours. Nice.
These foods sold by vets were named :
- Eukanuba Veterinary Diets Optimum Weight Control/Canine dry,
- Optimum Weight Control/Feline dry,
- Restricted-Calorie/Canine dry and canned,
- Restricted-Calorie/Feline dry and canned
contain chromium tripicolinate, which is not an approved food supplement, the FDA said.

Answer:
Really unbelievable. A girl that I know believes that her mother's dog was affected (and later put down) after inadvertantly feeding one of the wet foods listed.
