petco
Question: when I went to target today I noticed that they were putting up another pet store here in town.. its petco.. whats everyones thoughts on petco?? I know that everyone has their own opinion.. I guess I will just have to wait till they are open to make my opinion.. but I also figured Id get others too. Answer: I really think you should read this before suppoerting PetCo: http://www.petno.homestead.com/ http://www.petcocruelty.com/ Big places like this have a terrible record & PetCo is probably the worst. Is this what you want your $$$ to support? Please consider shopping @ humane, independent pet stores who don't practice abuse & neglect. Answer: From what I hear, some Petcos don't treat their live pets that well. It could be more convenient in terms of prices and availability and variety, but big chain stores like that don't usually carry the holistic natural brands that are better quality, just the big name brands like IAMS, etc. Although, the big chain petstore here does carry treats from Old Mother Hubbard, but in general, the smaller stores tend to carry the good quality stuff while the big chain stores tend to carry the usual brand name stuff that might not be the best quality. Answer: I found Petco to be very pricey in comparison with other stores. Answer: So when does Petco open in your area, Pam? Answer: Im not sure Diana.. I just happened to notice it one day when I went to target. they didnt have anything in there yet. they still had all the building supplies in there so it might still be another few weeks. I will let you know what I think when they open. Answer: Pam, I sometimes shop at PetCo for cardboard chubes but that is about it. The selection of items for chinchillas is extremely limited. I find most of my accessories (meaning food bowls and toys) at PetSmart. Answer: We don't have a Petco down here just PetsMart but I have been to the Petco in NM and I liked it but I didn't like how they kept their animals in those platics things and some of their prices are high. Answer: I found Petco to be very informative... Before deciding on a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel my family and I were considering a chiuaua...We have a Petco in the area and decided to go in and ask if someone there had any information on breeders. We found a VERY nice lady who works in the grooming department who spend over half an hour with us explaining everything. We felt very comfortable around her and decided that when we got a puppy we would bring it to her for grooming. A few years ago we bought a very expensive Blue Russian Persian cat and took it every month to get a lions cut at a very expensive private groomer, all the years we had the cat we never once got to know the groomer like we got to know the one at Petco. They were just there to take the cat and do their business... anyways, this tangent was going somewhere I swear Not everything is bad about large chain stores...Of course they wont have great selections for natural food and such, but that's to be expected...Look at your local grocery store, they most likely only have a small isle dedicated to that stuff (if any!)... Answer: I think with all the big brand name chain stores there will definately be a few bad apples in the barrel. There are great Petcos and there will be the Petco that does not take care of their animals, etc. I tend to judge each store on the individual basis, sometimes I will go to one Petsmart located further away that is clean and good to their animals while avoiding the closer Petsmart which is just crappy all around.
