Pet insurance
Question: I am just doing some research since I will be adopting Keesha and Ally, I'd feel better if they were covered by insurance just in case. Does anyone else have pet insurance for their furkids? I saw this company at Woofstock: PetCare Does anyone else know of a good pet insurance company in Canada? Answer: my vet recommnds www.petplan.com Answer: I am looking at their site right now, hehe I was looking at this site earlier: VetInsurance Answer: whats the charge for pet insurance? after a 77 dollar bill i am considering it? Answer: I have yet to find a pet insurance for exotics Linus. I would have some if I knew about one! I know for a dog it's about $11/month and a cat is $9/month Answer: Yup, it's about $11 a month per dog, Keesha and Ally are both microchipped so I think it's around $10 a month each. But it doesn't cover regular vet visits, only emergency stuff like poisoning. With the cost of vet care for exotics, I think they need insurance too! Answer: If it makes a difference, Petplan offers special deals to the Ottawa Humane Society's adopted pets: free two months of petplan insurance after adoption. It has helped the return rate of animals somewhat -- all the cats that come down with URI after adoption are taken to the vet, not returned to the shelter. YAY! I keep meaning to look into pet insurance for my dog, but with student loan repayment, personal insurance, Foster Parents Plan, and other bills, I'm not sure I'll have enough at the end of the day. But hey -- if it's only $10/month then maybe I should go for it! Answer: I have pet insurance but I'm not sure if it will help because I'm in the US Answer: greencolander, Keesha and Ally came with two months of ShelterCare insurance from PetCare too I am worried about stretching the budget too, $10 a month covers the costly emergency stuff, and I think up to $60 a month covers the preventative vet visits, but I hope I won't have to see the vet that often 'cos I can't afford that much a month for two dogs. I think as long as they are covered for major operations and major illness (knock on wood) I have peace of mind, lol! Shannon, PetCare also covers the US Answer: The only problem with pet insurance is that they do not usually cover recurring problems, like tumors that need to be removed, they will usually only cover the first treatment of it, then if it is recurring, they don't usually cover it anymore, so you may want to ask about that first before you take a policy out. Also, they will only cover certain things on certain breeds, for instance, we have a shar-pei, and no one will cover skin disorders or ear problems, due to the fact that these dogs are prone to that So make sure you ask lots of questions first Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
