Question:
last year (dont know if anyone remembers) we had a couple of adult turkeys and a few baby turkeys.. I posted pictures
well.. this year I only seen 3 large turkeys.. could have been the babies or who knows.. then about 2 weeks ago... I noticed that we only had 1 turkey around..
(this is sad!!!) then just today.. I was sitting here.. Andy was in the garage.. and his mom was just leaving.. I heard a shot.. didnt think anything of it.. cause the people that are on the next road behind us are always shooting.. (I live in the country so that house is quite a ways away) then for some reason I decided to get up and look out the window.. I seen a guy walking thru the grass.. and then I noticed the turkey wings flopping around in the grass.. I ran out the door to Andy and told him what happened.. his mom was already down the driveway.. she pulled out in that direction.. pulled up right behind the guy and was yelling at him.. he casually put the turkey in his trunk.. put his gun away and drove off... me and Andy were at the end of the drive way yelling at him too... he wasnt that far from our driveway.. about a cars length or 2..
sure.. fine.. its turkey season... but to drive down the road and find a turkey just walking along.. and then pull out your gun and shoot it?!!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!??! GRRRRRR...... I mean.. I dont even like the fact that they hunt them (or any other animal..) but do realize that it is animal population control.. but I still dont like it .. I liked seeing the turkeys walking thru the yard daily.. Im quite bummed out!!! it was our last turkey..

Pam, that sucks! I bet you can't call the police on him either if it's hunting season. Was the turkey on your property when the guy shot it? Aren't there laws about that?

I'm be as angry as you Pamm! I get attached to the squirrels in my yard that I feed everyday... I can just imagine how you feel... and to be right there and see it happen... That's so sad...

well I didnt see the guy shoot the turkey.. thank goodness. I probably would have grabbed the nearest thing to beat him with!!
I am very ticked off about it
we did call some number about hunting rules and regulations.. they asked questions.. and supposedly they are looking into it. whether he was allowed to shoot from the road just outside his car.. since he wasnt actually hunting.. and if he had a license.. since the turkey was barely onto the property..
the turkey was across the street so he wasnt in our yard.. he totally would have gotten in trouble then.. I wonder if he seen the turkey in our yard.. pulled over.. to wait for it to go to the other side of the street.. hmmmmm.... anyway.. I doubt there is anything that is going to happen to the guy.. he just got a free dinner!!!

Pam that does suck. I know around here they have started to set off pyrotenic blasts to scare some of the geese from the ponds and lake, personally I love them but the upity rich class lake front owners are complaining about them ARGH.

the "conservation" (I guess thats who it is) called back and I guess are following up on this guy.. they said they know who we are talking about.. GOOD!! hopefully they will do something about it.. they asked if we would be willing to go to court to testify.. Im glad I was asked permission!! apparently Andys mom or Andy said yes we would all go to court.. with out even asking me?!!?!?

good news is... we still got turkeys!!!! YAYYY.... I was up a little later yesterday and seen 3 turkeys crossing thru the yard.. I know 1 was definately male.. but I dont know if the other 2 were or not.. but it looked as if they were.. I sure hope there is a female around here somewhere tho... it would be a shame if there wasnt.. especially if that guy killed the female.. as far as I know that is definately illegal... if I were smart about it.. I would have taken my camera and camcorder out with me.. even if I wasnt taking any pictures.. that would have freaked him out!!!!!
