Thousands of mink released
Question: Yet another example of the damage stupid people can cause : (Taken from KiroTV) SULTAN, Wash. -- Police and volunteers were scrambling Monday to capture thousands of mink that were released from a mink farm in Sultan, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported. Someone cut a fence at the farm during the night and released several thousand of the 10,000 animals. Some of the small animals could be seen running near the farm, as farm workers and volunteers tried to round them up, using traps, nets and gloved hands. The farm-raised mink have no experience living in the wild. "They're not going to survive out there," the farm's owner told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. "So they haven't helped this these animals out any." A sheriff's department spokesman said there were no suspects. No one has claimed responsibility for releasing the mink but other mink farms in Snohomish County have been the target of an animal liberation group in the past. Answer: good grief!!!!!!!!! the poor mink!!! wonder how many they were able to catch?! Answer: They're still working on it Answer: Thankfully there are no pregnant females this time of year. It's bad enough as it is. So many get attacked by dogs, starve to death if not caught or suffer stress-related illnesses. These animal "liberators" are just barbaric torturers in disguise. How can a ranched animal possibly survive in the wild? Answer: The only thing as sad as this ill-thought out liberation attempt is the fact that these poor mink were destined for slaughter & transformation into abominable fur coats. I wish there were mink rescues out there, but I guess they aren't as "cute" as chinchillas to most people....... Answer: I can see the reasoning behind 'liberating' the mink, but to me the method is seriously flawed. So do the 'rescuers' feel that death is better than living on the ranch and eventually becoming a fur coat? If that's their intent, why not set fire to the whole place and kill all the mink?? Do they really believe they are giving the animals their 'freedom' to live in the wild with no survival skills whatsoever? Do the 'rescuers' even think of the consequences of releasing all the mink? Namely, mink getting killed by cars, other predators, starving to death. So I guess a slow death is better than a quick and painless one? Just doesn't make sense to me. Answer: It doesn't make sense to me either Di. The concept of stopping pelting is good, but this is the wrong way to go about it. Answer: there are better ways to "rescue" minks...............we should be educating people.........letting out the minks also leads to death of the minks...........those people are no better than the rachers themselves. I am still furious when i think of the person who let out poor sally ( my little spca chin that was found in a parking lot in vancouver) .........it is a certain death to do such a thing..............she is the sweetest chin............grumpy yet sweet LOL Answer: Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
