Do Other Animals Menstruate?
Question: I am asking this because in a previous post someone had said that when I found a little blood on Cub's hammock, that's what it was, & now last night I noticed a little blood in Seaside's urine. She was not in any kind of pain, she was playing & eating salad all night, but I am worried, & the emergency vet service around here know NOTHING about small animals (& charge an arm & a leg to guess what's wrong.... ) It seemed like Seaside might be menstruating, but I don't know. Is there another reason an otherwise healthy female gp would pass blood in her urine? They were @ the exotic vet's 2 weeks ago & came out with 100% clean bills of health.... Answer: Neuro dont know about other animals but I know Gp's do not menstrate (been through just what your dealing with ina gp I had taken in). Main cause is a Urinary Tract infection and even with a healthy check up they can be fine one day and have it the next. (I posted this on both of your threads) Good luck with her. Answer: I don't know about guinea pigs but I do know that female dogs menstruate when they are in heat. But passing blood in urine sounds like some kind of infection, not menstruation. I hope you find out what is wrong with Seaside, and keeping my fingers crossed for you! Answer: Any updates, neuro? Answer: I recall feeding Seaside beet greens, FM wouldn't eat them, & then Seaside peed red..... I think this was a false alarm!!! Answer: Oh what a relief!!
