What is wrong with Haligonians???!!!

Question:
I just saw on the news that twice this week in the Halifax area, live pets have been found in the garbage. The first incident was on Saturday when a live puppy was found in the garbage, and then again, just yesterday, a hamster cage with a live hamster still in it was found in a dumpster.
This comes just on the heels of the couple of cases of extreme animal cruelty in the area...
What is going through people's heads?

Answer:
Here's the story:

I just realised that the poor hamster was found on my old street...

Answer:
That's really terrible, that poor thing some people are just sick. At least someone found the poor little thing before she died-and it sounds like she found a good home

Answer:
that is so sad... Im glad the little one found a good home tho!!!

Answer:
I don't even know what to say... How can anyone be that stupid & selfish?

Answer:
That's how my hamster Teddy came to me.. he was found in the garbage room of an apartment building.. he was in a shoebox with a dog bone... poor boy
Thankfully the superintendant found him and had the good sense to bring him to the shelter...
This happens much more often than people realize... some (stupid & inconsiderate) people still view pets as disposable (literally)

Answer:
How awful

Answer:
Halifax isn't the only place to have such horrible things happen. I loathe the summer in Ottawa, because it's the time of year that kittens are left in garbage bins, puppies are left in boxes on street corners, and other unwanted pets are set free or left behind in apartments, stairwells, laundry rooms, and on neighbours' doorsteps.
In our disposable convenience culture, life itself is completely disposable and inconvenient, and is thrown away in the trash.

Answer:
I live out of the downtown core of the city and it seems like people are pretty good at keeping their animals out of the trash here.
That is quite sad that lives are being literally thrown away without a second thought by some people.
