I read a story about a couple from NS who visited Korea & rescued one dog themselves, but who were appalled at the way animals were being treated. The 2 examples that stand out for me are dogs being slowly beaten to death to "tenderize" their "meat" because it is believed that the more a dog suffers as s/he dies, the better aphrodisiac properties the meat will have; & cats being boiled alive for "meat" & to create arthritis remedies (bogus).
The couple said that the practice is so prevalent they often couldn't sleep at night due to the sounds of this animal torture.
This is the sort of barabarism that should NOT be allowed to continue.

The two sisters are doing such a great service.. the problem that I see is the Korean Government who has made it illegal but isn't willing to uphold the law..

I've heard about this from organizations I'm apart of. Its a cruel thing to do to the dogs. And as suzoo said, its illegal over there as well. I hope more people help those poor dogs out!

I understand it is cultural to eat dog but I don't understand the barbaric torture. What human can hear any animals screams and not be affected? I just don't understand
