Question:
In my local paper, I noticed the following ad:
Mother 95% Artic Wolf, Father 80% Timber Wolf, 20% Malamute, 7 cubs, 1 male ready to go......
How does one get to have an animal that is only 95% something?
And in order for the dad to only be 20% malamute, that means that there was a malamute back at least 2 generations, but the rest have all been Timber Wolves....
I for one would LOVE to have a dog that had wolf in the background, however I can only forsee problems with this ad. First of all, it's in a paper, where who knows who will read it?
10 to 1, these babies will all eventually be put down because their owners weren't responsible enough to handle the dogs properly, and someone is bound to get hurt, while the dogs are labeled "viscious".

Answer:
Sounds like bs to me. Not that there ISN'T wolf in their makeup- but doesn't seem that it was very well documented and that they just made up numbers- atleast for the mother. The fact that they are openly advertising adds to discedibility. They WOULD be beautiful, however.

Answer:
Right....the schmos that'll believe that...
What are they charging?

Answer:
$400/"cub"

Answer:
You should check with wildlife regulations in BC... In Ontario, it's illegal to keep any wildlife or wildlife-mix animal as a pet. You could call the cops and make them aware of the ad...

Answer:
You could just fax them a copy

Answer:
While wolf hybrids would be cool pets to have, I've heard otherwise in books. They say they don't know whether to live with a pack or with humans. I think if you raised one well enough it would learn to love the family, but I would watch it if it came in contact with small animals. I don't know I've never had one but saw one at our kennel, but it seems to me like a bad idea for some reason.

that very same thought ran through my head when i was reading that!!!

Answer:
I'll just stick with a gorgeous malamute, thanks! All the beauty, none of the hardship in keeping a wild animal or the hardship that is placed on the wild animal.
