Llama lost
Question: I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but my rabbits stay at my bf's parents' farm, and they have llamas. (I'm also in 4-H, showing a llama). In any case, on Sunday, I got a call while I was in church that there were llamas loose (and since I wasn't sure if anyone else knew, I figured I'd better go see what's up). It turned out that I got there after Jenny (bf's mom), and she had already caught the loose llama, one of the new ones that had only been on the farm since the fall. Well, later that afternoon was a llama grooming clinic for some of the new members of the 4-H club, and on our way out, we noticed there was a crowd of people standing around the ditch, and there was a llama in the ditch. The same one as had already gotten out once that day. No one knew how long she had been in the ditch, and as I watched them pull her out, I thought she was already dead. So, we carted her back home (a mere 45 second drive that seemed like eternity), and we started blowing out her fibre (which llama fibre is really thick, especially after a cold winter) and putting her under heat lamps and rubbing her dry. We worked on her for like an hour, and then, just when she was about to get a penicillan shot, she started going into death throes. I was really frustrated. She wasn't my llama (thank the Lord!), but the whole time, she didn't look like she even was trying to live. I've lost animals before, but I've never been so frustrated at such a lack of will to live. It's such a loss for the family, as the llama was bred in October, and in November, they had lost a cria (baby llama) because the mother stopped producing milk, and there weren't any other moms in the same field to feed the baby. It's been a rough go of things in the last 4 months, but this was the most troubling for me. Answer: I'm sorry that you couldn't save her. I guess it's sort of like people...sometimes they just let go and there is nothing you can do. At least the pain is gone now. Take care. Answer: I'm sorry that things turned out that way. Answer: thank you ladies. I appreciate it . Answer: Im sorry to hear about that.. I think its like Candy said.. maybe she just realized that there was nothing more that could be done for her.. Answer: So sorry! Answer: What a sad story! I'm so sorry you guys had to lose a llama like that Answer: ty, the *hugs* are much appreciated Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
