My Simba Was Murdered
Question: A few years ago, my family and I were living on an acreage just outside of Airdrie. At the time I was ten and my younger sister was five. Our house was right on the highway at the end of a long driveway, everything but the driveway had a fence around it. The day before, which was May 23rd, my sister and I had gone out close to the highway but still inside the yard because there were two big posts that we draped a blanket over to make a fort. My mom told us not to go out that far so we came back to the house leaving everything out there. The next morning, I went and got my sister out of her room so we could go and get the blackets and stuff so my mom woudn't be mad. Being the idiot that I am, I didn't put my dog in the house or tie him up, I let him follow us out to the front yard. My sister and I were taking the blanket down and I looked up to see Simba on the highway, i was about to call him back when a car came. This car swerved into the lane he was in, hit him, waited till he stopped rolling and then ran over him! There was excellent visibility by the way. I remember running back to the house with my sister behind me screaming. My dad ran out to the highway while my mom got a stretcher ready to take him to the vet, my little brother , then 8 and my sister and I stood watching my dad run out there while we held our cats. The worst feeling I've ever had is seeing my dad walk back slowly shaking his head. To this day I feel it is my fault and I let my family down. We had bought Simba as a 7 week old puppy on May 25th 1997, he died May 24th 1998. I will forever miss him. Answer: How awful... I am so sorry you and your family had to endure that. Its so hard to understand why these things can happen, but I do not think you are responsible for that... it was one of those horrid things that just happen sometimes. Rest in Peace, Simba. Answer: Thank you. But no matter what, I will always feel responsible. Answer: That's so sad. I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't think you were responsible for Simba's death, but I also know that nothing I say will make you feel less responsible. Answer: Im so sorry about that.. how horrible of some people to use animals as moving targets for their fun!!! Answer: Courtney, I'm sorry you lost your pet and and moreso that you feel responsible for what happened. Please don't be hard on yourself about it, it's like Nix said...sometimes it just one of those horrid things that happens. a few yrs ago we had a dog and and something similar happened..my daughter felt as you do,,so I think I know what you must have gone through..again, I'm sorry that you went through that Answer: I am so sorry. I can't imagine how awful that must have felt. It was not your fault. R.I.P. Simba. ~Corina Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
