Shipping Again

Question:
Tell me why is it that when shipping animals that they have to be there 2 hours before the flight is due to leave? I can understand if it's a parcel that's being shipped, but when it's a live animal you'd think that for the welfare of it that they could make exceptions. The reason why this is an issue for me tonight is that I had a 2 hour drive to the airport to ship a cat to Newfoundland today. I dropped the cat off at 4pm which is when I was told to do so. Obviously the cat didn't feel like eating or drinking in the car. The flight was to leave at 6pm but was delayed until 9pm. I was told when I dropped the cat off that everything was running on time. By the time the lady picked up the cat it was likely 11:00 or later, plus then they had to drive home. I'm sure that that cat fared well on his adventure, but I just don't see having to put them through the extra 2 hours of being stuck in a carrier. I'd say having a live animal at the airport 1/2 hour before the flight is due to leave would be more reasonable.

Answer:
Wow, that is definitely not in the animal's favor to be sitting at the airport for 2 hours. Have you heard from the owner who was picking up the cat?

Answer:
The cat got there safe and sound!

Answer:
Oh good.

Answer:
I agree with you. I think 2 hours ahead is ridiculous. I can understand even one hour (to be sure that everything is ready to go when they load the plane prior to departure).
I'm glad to hear the cats made it safe & sound

Answer:
Most commercial forms of transporatation are hard on pets. The only commercial bus line travelling across NS (Acadian Lines) allows *NO* pets, accompanied or not. Via Rail makes them ride w/ baggage.
Animals deserve rights. This is pathetic.
I am glad your cat shipped well Melfred.
