Dehydrated and throwing up (Ferret)

Question:
Hello everyone I have a sick ferret that is very dehydrated and has been throwing up. He is eating and hes drinking and hes going to the bathroom. It's not a blockage. It was more like a virus of some type I think. I've read certain things about upper respiratory infections. I don't think its that. I've been giving him antibiotics for the last 6 days and its not helping. What could it possibly be? Please somebody respond to this a.s.a.p 12/30/03 @ 8:39PM

Answer:
Take him back to the vet. I'm assuming you've already taken him to the vet and are NOT giving him medication that isn't prescribed to him.

Answer:
If he is on antibiotics, it is VERY likely that he is having a reaction to the medication. This happened with my cat and changing the meds solved the problem. What antibiotics is he on? I would definitely see the vet in the morning if not an emergency vet tonight. If he is lethargic and dehydrated, he will need subcutaneous fluids ASAP. Good luck. Let us know how he is doing.

Answer:
Any updates on your ferret?

Answer:
Ok we haven't received any response from the original poster for a while now so I'll move this to the archive. I hope the little ferret turned out ok
