I never knew there were people out there that didn't think chinchillas are cute! I jokingly asked my mom if I could have a chinnie and she told me she thought they look stupid, dumb, and weird. By stupid she didn't mean ugly, she meant brain power stupid! My dad just thinks they're weird. I can't believe this! Who knew I lived among chinchilla dislikers all this time?

Millimi, I was mentioning my friend's gf in another thread about this very topic. She thinks chinnies aren't very cute and kinda of alien looking. She refers to them as "crats" because she thinks they look like a mix between a cat and a rat (not sure where she sees the similarities with a cat though ) . We saw some standards in a pet store and she didn't even want to go near the cage

I kind of laugh it off though because a) I don't live with her and b) her perception just seems so bizarre I can't do anything other than laugh.

Originally I didn't think they were cute either, because the only ones I ever saw were in a petstore, and all they did was stare at me without moving. To me they looked alien and creepy, because what time of fuzzy dude doesn't move?!?! And then the longer they stared at me the more I thought they looked angry (when they were sleepy and scrunched up) so I thought they would bite me.

when we first came home with Baby it took me two weeks to believe she wouldn't bite me!

my family thinks that chins are like a mix between: a rat, rabbit, squrel and ya they still think they are cuties but can figure out wut they really are.lol. i have 2 standar girls both 10 weeks old
