I am just starting out. I Hope to build up my herd and have some quality Ebonies/Whites/Beiges, and combinations of...including some TOV. Answer: Not to be nasty but.............Perhaps this member hasn't read how we hate unnecessary abbreviations? And I agree with HCL - if no babies are required, another female would probably be best! Answer: If you want your chinchilla to have a companion, get a same sex one. Breeding is not for the faint of heart. A female can kill a male she does not like, can attack babies, can die during labor. No this doesn't happen often, but are you really prepared to risk her life because 'you think she's lonely'? Plus, you have to seperate them before birth, which really does not lend it's self to 'keeping friends'. The female may reject the male the second time. Then they could both suffer from depression. If you decide to get a companion for your female, be sure to get a young female kit. Mature females are very territorial and very hard to introduce to new chinchillas. And as Mollymitten posted, please check the forum rules: http://www.pets-on-the-net.com/forum...?t=6987&page=2 Answer: I agree with what everyone else has said: if you are just looking for a companion chinchilla, please consider a same sex one. Answer: chinnie_lover : Best of luck finding a chinchilla. I agree with everyone else that a female companion is the best choice. Be aware, though, that regardless of the sex each chinchilla will react to introductions in a different way. Many chinchillas don't willingly accept a cagemate and need to be introduced slowly. There are many threads on the forum about introducing, which I would recommend you check out. I am going to close this thread as it was orginally posted as an ad. If you decide to pursue the search for a cagemate, please post an ad in the Classifieds. Thanks Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
