Hey guys,
Does anyone know the correct dosage of Chlorpalm for Chins?? My vet said 1 ml twice a day. It's been a long time since I've used the drug so I wanted to check. The label says 1 ml per kg..but my chin doesn't weigh a kilogram. He's about 600g. And besides, the dosage on the bottle is for dogs and cats, not chins.
I don't usually doubt my vet but he wasn't there when I picked Baby up, and the girl tried to give me baytril. I wouldn't take it so she talked to him on the phone..and well...I just want to make sure.
If anyone wonders, the lil guy had some tooth problems so they had to go in there and fix him up, and he had a spur that caused an absess. Poor lil guy is home now and eating mush...poor Baby.

Hi, I don't remember the dosage, but did want to mention to make sure you don't get the med on your skin ,,,I was told by the vet to be careful with it..

That would make the dosage .6 of a milliliter. Ask the vet for a syringe of that size and to show you exactly where to suck the meds up to.

Baby seems good this morning, the drugs are all worn off and he's pretty active..just not eating so I'm going to start syringe feeding mush into him.

Baytril is known for causing chins to lose their appetites. The last thing I want is this lil guy not to eat (for any reason besides the pain)

My vet put my hedgie on that chlorpalm .3ml twice a day for 2 weeks and it almost took the life of my hedgie. Otzi Man had sever diarrhea. On the other hand, my Snow White had a wound just below her eye and was given chloramphenical in ointment form and her wound healed nicely. The vet did advise me not to get it on my hands since some people have a bad reaction to this drug.

hmm...duster did pretty good on chlorpalm when he was on it. I haven't noticed a reaction from getting it on my skin before when using it, but I'll be extra careful to be sure to wash really well afterwards. And yes, i'm looking out for poop..that'll help me to figure out if he's getting enough food.

I just had Freddy on chlorpalm for 10 days with an inflamed cheek. He weighs 700 grams and he was on .5 cc twice a day. His appetite went down quite a bit while he was on it. I also, on the advise of my vet, made sure to give him plain yogert in between doses to keep the good bacteria going in his tummy. Just keep syringe feeding him till you see him eating well on his own.
