question about chin toys

Question:
ok I just got a few new toys and already read that they were not good for my chin. Can you tell me if this is true? The have no plastic, only wood and some rope on the ends. The other is made of popsicle sticks?
Thanks for any responses

Answer:
What type of rope? Only sisal rope is acceptable for chins.
What type of wood? Many types of wood are toxic to chins.
Popsicle sticks I'm not sure about...
Most of the chinchilla stuff sold in petstores is garbage. I suggest looking online at chinchilla specific sites. They're usually run by experienced breeders who will give you good advice.

Answer:
Yes there are woods unsafe.
Mine love popcicle sticks, cardboad tubes, Tim Horton's trays, sticks of pine I cut up, drill holes in, cut into all shapes and sizes. Grape vines are my newest.
You should see how much fun they have with a box when out for their run. Or a brown paper bag.
Plastics are a real no no, they can't digest it all.
Nothing with any finish, paint, or fumes.
Watch for things they can get caught up in. I tie knots in a peice of rope, with a couple of blocks of wood attached and tie it to the cage.
The list goes on........for both good and bad toys.

Answer:
we use - untreated pine or oak, untreated pine or oak bark (we just make sure it's clean and dry), sisal rope, pumice, cuttlefish, small various shapes of block wood (untreated), wee bells, nylabone. ummmm some use the sticks from ice-blocks or chop stick wood. Clean, open pinecones, bits of twigs etc from spray free apple trees or willow trees (both clean and dry), plain, unscented toilet rolls (with no glue), and those tunnels - not always the plastic ones - but the thick cardboard type ones.

Answer:
Mine love popsicle sticks .. they are cheap and the chins love em
As long as the rope is sisal it is perfectly safe for chins. (as mentioned above)
