TEETH
Question: How do I know if my chins teeth are too long? I noticed that one of mine seems to have longer bottom teeth than the others. How do I tell for sure? He is going to the vet tomorrow b/c of an eye infection...which is the reason for my inspection...I know eye probs can equal teeth probs. Answer: You are right, eye problems can be caused by teeth problems. I would ask the vet to check the teeth and possibly do an X-ray to look for malocclusion. Is there a large size difference between the teeth. One of Zoya's teeth is a tiny bit (millimeters) longer than the other. However, if the difference is larger, I would suspect that maybe the tooth was broken somehow. Good luck at the vet tomorrow. Answer: no size difference with the teeth, they just seem a bit longer than the others and he's not really eating much anymore...and the eye I had problems before with one of the chins not eating and it resulting in exploratory surgery and about $1500 in vet bills..and no answers... I hope that doesn't happen this time b/c I can't afford that much this time. Hopefully it's nothing... Answer: In that case, it sounds like teeth problems...especially since he's gone off of feed. You will probably need to start feeding Critical Care from Oxbow. Good luck at the vet. Make sure that you get X-rays done to look at the roots. Answer: Poor little furball, it does sound like teeth problems. Let us know how things go at the vet's. Answer: last time i was convinced it was teeth probs too and we still don't know what happened 3 years later at least this time i know which meds to demand we try before the surgery.. Answer: so the vet found no problems with the teeth and didn't feel any blockages. He gave him a appitite stimulant shot and told me to hand feed mush mix (ground pellets and babyfood and vitamins). I'm also giving a hairball medicine just in case...I'll let you guys know what happens next. Lisa Answer: We are glad to hear there are no teeth problems, let us know how the mush goes. Answer: the mush went over well when we got home from the vet...he ate for over 20 minutes straight! He ate out of the syringe as well as off my finger. Tonight was a different story....he fought me til I gave up. I think he may be full from his earlier feeding (1 pm). I tried to feed him the hairball stuff too and he wouldn't have that either. Now the poor guy has a sticky chin. Let's hope he takes some food tonight before I go to bed and that I see some poopies in the morning!! Answer: Lisa, What else did the vet do? If he is not defecating, that is a serious problem. The vet should do an X-ray to look for blockages or gas. A blockage can kill a chin very quickly, that is how I lost my Anya. When was the last time he produced any feces? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
